Sony's officially subtitled Uncharted NGP as 'Golden Abyss', and released new details and screenshots.
The new game's described by our inside man, OPM's Leon Hurley, as "every bit as good as Drake's Deception", and apparently it's "looking and feeling just as huge as the PS3 version".

"When climbing, for example, you can draw a line over all the points you want to clamber across and let Drake get on with it," Hurley reports in OPM's next issue. "You can also tilt the whole machine to swing and lean into jumps - a subtle but clever idea that you start to use without even thinking about it."
The portable game's story is also said to be "top-notch", with over two hours of motion-captured cut-scenes set for the final game.
Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra recently hinted that the handheld game will "most likely" interact with Uncharted 3 on PS3.

Forget Wii 2, PSP4 and Xbox720 - or whatever they'll be called - nextgen starts 2011 with the NGP

Anyone else feel like the ngp will have a better launch lineup than the 3ds? I don't mean to troll i just get that feeling. What excites me about the ngp isn't it's power alone, it's sony's approach. They aren't just adding more power, they are covering all their bases, and are going for ease of development. They appear to be dedicated to make it as developer friendly as possible, which i like.

Too early to say at this point although it won't be hard to beat the 3DS launch line up.

Have they released a launch line up yet or are you assuming these are launch tittles?

^sadly true^
This is looking fantastic, though! Apparently it's a totally undiluted Drake.

No no no its not this title that makes me think that. It's just the general approach that gives me that feeling. It could still be ridden with ports, but i am fairly optimistic about the ngp.

I reckon the NGP should have a better launch lineup than 3ds. But the graphical difference between the two won't be all that great. Afterall NGP was initally stated as being half way between ps2 and ps3 and that's since been downgraded. The 3DS is obviously more powerful than Wii. So they'll end up pretty darn close - though NGP will obviously pip it still in raw power.
It'll be down to the games but the 3DS edges it for me. It looks great feels great and has excellent graphics - and the 3D really does make all the difference.

That looks frakking astonishing......especially for a handheld.
Count me in on this and Wipeout 100%!!!!

Power isnt everything ... Look at what happened to the PSP ... it was a lot more powerful than the DS, and yet the DS (other than maybe in Japan itself) is concerned the far better handheld gameswise ..
To me it still seems like Sony are chucking as much tech as they can at it in some hope that it will sell. Of course it will do as long as the price isn't too steep. Given the graphical prowess and the OLED screen, this thing is one going to be pretty expensive (sticking my neck out £300+) and two the battery is going to last five minutes. Not to mention that the games are going to probably be as expensive as their console counterparts as well.
To me this isnt a 'handheld' its a Diet Coke PS3 in a very small package, personally I'm not sure I'm that bothered. I certainly wouldnt buy something like Wipeout when it looks like a carbon copy of the PS3 game, regardless of whether you can play it on the move or not.
I applaud Sony for pushing the technical boundaries, as long as its not pushing my wallet boundaries, and I suspect it will do.

Never said power was everything. In fact that wasn't the point of my post. Wasn't it rumored to have a longer battery life than the 3ds with 3d on? And be the same price as the 3ds after the ram was cut in half? I think your price estimate might be a bit on the high side. The OLED screen is designed by sony, and uses less power than the 3d screen. No idea if a 3d screen is more expensive than the OLED but i would think so. The 3ds costs so much because of the 3d screen, and because of how much of a profit nintendo is selling it for, i don't think the same factors apply to sony. This isn't psp versus ds. This is 3ds versus ps1 or ps2, in a world where the iphone exists. Not only has the market changed but sony has changed. When sony demoed the ngp what most saw was a lot of power, but what i saw was the ease of development, something sony tried to emphasize. I doubt it will be a repeat of the last gen. You may not want to buy wipeout, but why would anyone want to buy a port of zelda? A port of mario? Another mario kart, 3d mario, or another zelda? The first zelda game IS a copy of another title because its a port, but if people want to play the same ip's and are willing to play the ports then sony and nintendo will keep making them.

They haven't announced the launch line up yet have they? Look at what they showed of the 3DS line up and what actually made it out on release. And I'm also a little sceptical of a) graphics from a system that has seemingly only just had the specs nailed down, and b) statements from Sony etc regarding the power of their future consoles.
I've never really thought much of console launches to be honest, apart from maybe the wii just because it was new and it had a Zelda game!

Regarding the power of the NGP, sorry but it will destroy the 3DS. Epic said that it would be 4x the power of any other hand held device, including the 3DS. The RAM reduction is rumoured to have minimal impact. These screens are all light years beyong the 3DS.
originalbadboy on 2 Jun '11 said:
Don't disagree with any of that ... I wasnt having a go, I understood your point very well, Im not trying to make a comparison between the 3DS and the NGP they are two completly different things in the end, and they will both appeal to different markets ... I was just putting my personal opinion of my current view of the NGP.
Sticking with my price prediction though .. Sony cant afford to sell it at a loss at the moment. It will be pushing £300 easily.
originalbadboy on 2 Jun '11 said:
I think we can all see that ... I wouldnt say light years beyond the 3DS though.

Well I was saving for a 3DS, but I think I may just have to get this bad boy instead

Think I've just had an accident!
And to think that it will look even better on a small screen. I mean, think about how good some of the current ios shooters look on the screen - they never look anywhere ner this good close up!
Killzone mobile is going to clean up bigtime...

Looks lovely.Would rather play using the sticks tbh,but may come round to the touch screen. What worries me though,is this the only launch title worth having? Would be great if they had a new GTA or Skyrim, hell I'd settle for Oblivion or Fallout on the Vita.Love uncharted though.
