It may be the weekend but that doesn't mean the E3 media train doesn't keep on chuffin', and this morning the Fat Controller's kindly lobbed a Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City from the food carriage.
The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC title is being developed in collaboration with Vancouver-based SOCOM studio Slant 6 Games, and is set in during the original T-virus outbreak of Resident Evil 2 and 3.
It's described as "a true third person team based shooter experience" set within the "dark and sinister" universe, and has players take control an Umbrella Security Services soldier and compete alone or in four player co-op.
Capcom has said it made sure Western developer Slant Six 'got' the foundation of Resident Evil before entrusting the studio with the famous survival horror series.

Will hope to try a demo, but as I love the Resi series for quite some time, I think I will get this. Vid is pretty awesome. It'll be nice to go back to Racoon City. See the sites and see how they've done up the place. lol.

Bad enough they're turning it into even more of an online shooter but the whole re-stylisation of the characters is just pushing it further. What's with the ridiculous outfits? As much as I liked Resident Evil 4 despite the change in direction, I couldn't stand what they'd done to Leon S. Kennedy, which was to turn him into a complete douchebag. It's like RE2 and RE4 Leon's are two completely different people. Seems they've gone and done the same with everyone else now.

Why, Capcom why?
The direction Resident Evil is heading in, is just not to my taste at all. 1,2 and CV were the best ones. 4 was good reinvention but it's getting out of hand now.

I'm a big fan of the Resi Evil series, and I won't mind this too much so long as it is just a 'stand alone' title and not an indication of how the series is going in the future. Bring back the good 'ol fashioned zombies for Resi Evil 6 and I will be very happy. Til then though this is looking promising.

How this made the top 5 of the most anticipated games for E3 I cannot fathom. It's not that it looks terrible, but compared to some of the games we already know we're going to see, this seems every bit like an 'also-ran'.

i only played cv and 5, loved cv and hated 5 so i hope it is like the older horror style rather than the shooter style (although that vid looks the latter if you have those big guns)
