Nintendo has confirmed that it was the victim of a recent online attack in US.
Nintendo announced today that the attack took place a few weeks ago on a website server in US, although it confirms that no user information was compromised by the hackers.

A hacker group known LulzSec has claimed responsibility for the attack, proving its claims by posting a config file taken from Nintendo's server. But the group insists that the attack was done not to cause harm, but to help Nintendo plug the gap in its security.
Posting on Twitter, the hacker group said: "We're not targeting Nintendo. We like the N64 too much - we sincerely hope Nintendo plugs the gap. This is just for lulz. <3"
It later stated: "We just got a config file and made it clear that we didn't mean any harm. Nintendo had already fixed it anyway."
This is the latest in a line of hacker attacks on high-profile firms, Sony being the most notable of late. And hackers say they're not done with the home of PlayStation yet.

These ones sound like fanboy's with the "DIE SONY SCUM. Aww i wuv my Ninty 64 we won't hurt you"
I say we challenge them to a winner takes all Mario Kart 64 tournament. If we win they jog on and get a shave and a wash and stop being silly. If they win we pay for them a night with the best hooker in the world and all the Doritos they can eat. We wouldn't lose though, Mario Kart 64 is my game *cracks knuckles*

But that's a hacker for you? Want to destroy one company for 'lulz' whilst helping another, apparently. They are REALLY that thick and stupid that they believe everyone else feels the same way, they think we are all grateful for them posting all of our personal details on the web for ANYONE to download. They really do, this is the massively arrogant small world they live in. Yet most likely you could beat the living crap out of them with a straw, or blowing at them. Show them a girl in real life and I suspect they will run away crying and peeing themselves?
And I pretty much garuntee they are American, hence why the FBI hasn't announced anything about it's supposed investigation. But that's ok, with a bit of luck Sony will fire some of it's American staff to help the cut backs it will no doubt have to make due to the money it's lost from all these hacks
Lets not forget so far we have hacked recently (That we know about):
Nintendo
Amazon
Master Card
Visa
Sony (Almost every website they have)
Codemasters
Google
Lockheed Martin
Have I missed any out?

They have got so power hungry that they are going to end up getting some nasty federal charges against them. They really think in this day and age the FBI and such don't know how to track them down?

their twitter feed is pretty interesting when you read through it.
the reasons why hackers are targeting Sony is because they asked for the IP addresses of all the people who visited Geohot's blog & other associated websites, thats why & thats what they have said all along.
Sony are storing peoples data un-encrypted & their security is poor, i know what the hackers are doing is wrong, but at least we now know what Sony has been doing, don't forget many company's get hacked & peoples personal data is taken & they only find out when it's to late, i had this happen to me & even though they post the data they extract on the internet they do tell people that they have done it.
my PSN was hacked & of course i am not happy about it, but if whoever it was hadn't hacked it someone else would have & we wouldn't have known about it, people need to look at the bigger picture they really do !

"the reasons why hackers are targeting Sony is because they asked for the IP addresses of all the people who visited Geohot's blog & other associated websites, thats why & thats what they have said all along."
And they think Sony were been unreasonable? Well boo bloody hoo. I dunno about you but I have no interest in modding my PS3 so I don't visit websites that show me how to mod my PS3.
I also don't care about building bombs, knitting or gay porn so guess what, I don't visit sites based on building bombs, knitting or gay porn.
And what has posting peoples personal info on the internet got to do with f*cking with Sony? I don't work for Sony so why take it out on me? Why am I being targetted alan?
Oh yeah because hackers are arseholes with motives that are only justifiable in their own warped little minds.
If I thought Sony had f*cked me over, I'll hack them or sue them or whatever, I don't want or need anyone else to take action for me.
These hackers aren't doing anyone a favour, they're just a big nuisance.

Wow, just wow, the ignorance shown is mind blowing!
I'll remember to accuse the car park attendant if my car get's stolen because they weren't protecting it enough, because really, why should anyone assume most people abide by the law!
Seriously, why defend the indefensible? I couldn't care less if Sony used a poxy notepad file as it was STOLEN, the hackers BROKE the LAW. What do people not get about this? Is it really that hard to understand? Do we really live in a world people think laws don't exist anymore?
I mean, no doubt Sony should have protected the data more, but it's not exactly like my mum could have gone and downloaded the data is it!!!!
And that makes 10 companies now with Square Enix and Dues Ex.

No conspiracy. Just a bunch of flag wavers. I'm not gonna say it, but it's a matter of time before it all becomes far too obvious to ignore the facts.

Right with you on that. Toss up between me and you getting first and second with the hacker losers about an hour behind us on the time sheets. I might add that as well as the nerds going for a shave and a wash, in celebration of our victory, we should get the aforementioned night with the best hooker in the world (seperately of course) and the ultimate party sized bag of Doritos and beer for after.

What is this word "hackerproof"? I just checked all my favorite dictionaries and couldn't find it. I even looked in Urban Dictionary, no hint. At this point in time this word has no meaning
