Microsoft will announce a new subscription-based TV service for Xbox 360 during its E3 presentation tomorrow, according to a new rumour.

Aptly-named WinRumors reports that the firm is currently preparing a demo for the service as it makes efforts to secure last-minute deals in time for the announcement. "Microsoft is currently in last minute negotiations to secure the necessary agreements in time," said an unnamed source 'familiar with Microsoft's plans'.

The TV service, which the report compares to UK's SkyTV service via Xbox 360, will reportedly come as part of a new Xbox Live tier, 'Xbox Live Diamond', which users will be charged a monthly subscription fee to access. It'll include all of the features offered in Xbox Live Gold accounts and access to streaming TV.

The service will apparently offer content from US operators, although it's unclear whether the service will be made available in other territories.

As E3 draws near, Microsoft's plans for its press conference remain mostly a mystery, although rumours point to the reveal of a new Fable game, 'Fable: the Journey', as well as 'Kinect Sports: Season 2, Dance Central 2 and Kinect Fun Labs.

No offence but if this will only be available in the US, why are we being told here in the UK? What's the point?

In any case we can get channels showing US tv shows on Sky and Virgin anyway.

If Xbox Live "Diamond" is real, then I would probably get it. I'm one of those people who likes to have it all :P I don't know why! That's just me I guess!
Anyways, I hope it doesn't cost much more than Gold, but you never know what other things they might add in as well. Tomorrow shall tell. Can't wait.

Microsoft have been stating for weeks about video downloads are becoming more popular on xbox. This is just something that was inevitable. I bet that ITV and 4OD will be released for xbox UK, if not tomorrow then soon. I just hope BBC iplayer will be included!

I hope it comes with the options to pick which channels you pay for instead of just a group package.

Could be interesting, but I would only want a subscription for tv if it was showing football. Sky is far too expensive and I doubt very much they would relinquish the rights to show it to MS.

Sound like a good idea for some people although my Sky box & torrents do me nicely & even if they didn't I doubt I could afford on top of Gold & PS+ :(

    Microsoft unveil Xbox Live Diamond.
This new service streams a video feed of Anne Diamond 24/7 straight to your Xbox!

We have heard the pleas from many of our Xbox customers for this amazing feature. It will take the Xbox brand to a new generation of gamers now that they can watch and listen to the vast gaming knowledge of Anne Diamond when they need it. We hope to have this new exciting facet of the Xbox Live experience to be available this Winter.

Neither. It'll likely be an IPTV service if the rumours turn out to be true.

With Sky Player already on there, is this really going to happen for the UK? I don't think it will.

I quite like Sky Player on my Xbox, although I wish there were a few more live channels to choose from.
