Microsoft has officially announced Halo 4, following a leaked reveal earlier today on Xbox.com.
The teaser shown at Microsoft's E3 press conference, which we hope to have here for you very shortly, showed Master Chief awakening from his cold storage to discover everything's not well... and there's a big intimidating spaceship outside his window.
The platform holder added in a press release: "Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. A new trilogy begins when Halo 4 releases in 2012."

But the other stuff was great. TR looks brilliant, Gears 3 = yay, Halo's!!!! Future Soldier, Forza 4 and of course ME3. This might actually be the point where Kinect gets good. The use in GR and ME sounds great and looked brilliant from what I've seen. Some of the new tricks on the dashboard with Avatars etc. were quite neat too.
Looking forward to more over the next few days. Interested to see who claims the cheese-factor corporate asshole trophy for this year. MS are off to a flying start, special mention goes to that ballack "Kudos". Sony will probably do a lot better conference-wise as long as they feel free to crack a few at their own expense, show sweet stuff, and not go all super clinical like MS did.

You will find that as he is in an environment which has no gravity, those would be thrusters on his suit, if I remember correctly each member of the team that John 117 was with had them in one mission from the Halo books.
But in any case very cool news - if only a very short clip of the hulk of a man we have seen many times before with a pistol in his hand!
I hope they do something better with the story though...went off the rails a little bit don't you think?
