As if it didn't have enough shooters to work on, Gearbox Software has announced Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2012.
The Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines dev describes the new BiA instalment as "a new direction" for the franchise.
Set in World War II, Brothers in Arms Furious 4 is a "brutal first person shooter that offers an exciting campaign mode playable with up to four players in co-op, as well as an extensive competitive multiplayer mode," the dev says.
"The story follows four fierce and fearless warriors tracking the Führer himself. As one of the Furious 4, players will use special weaponry and unexpected combat abilities to fight the greatest threat the world has ever faced: an experimental Nazi army conceived in secret by the Third Reich."
Ubisoft marketing man Adam Novickas says of the game: "The Brothers in Arms franchise has been renowned for its gritty direction that has dropped players into the middle of World War II.
"With Brothers in Arms Furious 4, Gearbox brings the action to a whole new level filled with unexpected twists and over-the-top battles that are sure to please new players and fans alike."

fairly offended by this, why didnt they just pick a different name? Brothers in Arms was about realism, and true stories, even down to the position of burned out tanks on roads. now they just ignore all that and make a TF2 style cartoon?
even if its a good game, they've just shat on history.

Yet another series completely f**ked over. This is one reason I can't stand modern gaming compared to ten years ago.

I don't know what to say.
I believe gearbox was fairly affected by developing Duke Nukem.
Team Fortress 2 + Inglorious Basterds = That?
It might be a good game, but Brothers in Arms? No.
