Microsoft's slapped an October 11 release date on Kinect enabled racer Forza Motorsport 4.
Developer Turn 10 said at Microsoft's E3 press conference that the game will feature "community car clubs", 16 player races, a "community rivals mode" and "epic monthly expansions".
Kinect compatibility will include voice recognition and headtracking.

It would defo be an interesting, if not weird way of racing.
Worth a thought for certain

I don't for one second believe that this will be "an entirely new car experience" - that's just P.R. talk. I do think that it will be undeniably brilliant and possibly the best racing game our there. Here's what I just don't understand: Polphony Digital took 5 years to make GT5 (which I loved) and yet this looks way better graphically despite the shorter development time. Those cars and interiors are stunning! I firmly believe that Forza 4 will set the standard and it will do Polyphony good to have to catch up with someone.

The cars in the showroom view look very nice. While racing however - the cars still look like they're made of rubber on account of reflections and the tracks still look drawn / painted.
Kinect support is a gimmicky waste of time for anyone who is at all serious about racing sims. (At least) Logitech support would have been a huge plus, but no, not this generation. Kinect is for small kids to race with and that's fine, but don't start comparing it against proper wheel support unless you want to sound like an idiot.
Having the Top Gear track is good and may add to the entertainment if it is used properly, but 5 new tracks / areas overall is not a huge leap - though there's only so much work that can be done in 2 years. There's rumours about a Rally mode but I have to wonder how many rally tracks there will be and whether there will be a track editor / generator?
Night racing is a welcome possibility but if Turn 10 decides to implement dynamic day / night (as per GT5) then we'll be seeing blocky shadows for track side objects as well as cars - just as per GT5. FM4 could end up looking worse than FM3.
I've said this before and ~500 cars for FM4 seems about right. It fits to scale regarding the jump in the number of cars available 'out of the box' from F2 (~300) to F3 (~400). It appears to take about 2 years to create 100 cars. GT5 also delivered the same number of "premium" cars for the equivalent timescale... i.e. Over 200 cars in 4 years. It seems to be the going rate for what is most likely a fixed-sized team of people profiling real cars (to convert). PD has certainly done a better job of it in terms of quality.
Anyway, roll on FM4, I look forward to seeing more.

Worth buying when it's a bit cheaper with all the DLC thrown in like 3.
