Sony has confirmed that the PS Vita WILL be out during 'holiday' this year. Globally.
Sony also priced the two SKUs of the PSP successor. The Wi-Fi-only model will cost a whoop-inducing $249 (€249), while the 3G/Wi-Fi version will cost $299 (€299 Euros).
That matches Nintendo's pricing for the less powerful 3DS. Impressive, no? This announcement concluded Sony's E3 2011 press conference moments ago.
UK retailer GAME has started taking pre-orders for PlayStation Vita, listing UK prices of £229.99 for the Wi-Fi version and £279.99 for 3G one.

Superb presentation from Sony and unlike the terrible 360 showcase this showed just 1 multi format game...
That's how you do it people, amazing!!!!!
I want almost everything they showed, hell i may even get that medievil Move game.
Fantastic year ahead for Sony, the events of the past few weeks are already a distant memory for me, thanks for my free Dead Nation and thank you for the PS VITA...... WOW
Over to you Nintendo, good luck guys..... Your gonna need it!

$299 converts to £183
299 Euros coverts to £267
Why do we always get ripped off?
It will be £299 in the UK no doubt.

Try not to fanboy overload too much Megatron, they were about equal for fans really. MS stuffed in too much f**king Kinect, Sony talked too damn much and forgot some big names
I thought Sony let themselves down a tad like MS. They've got some massive exclusives that weren't shown. Last Guardian?! Wherfore art thou?! I'd hoped that Sony would blow MS away but .... I kinda think they were both a bit flat. I'd give the "victory" to Sony as MS raised the cheese bars
Neither of the 2 HD giants released like any new series
Nintendo you're up! Go!
On topic. Vita is sweeeeet. I'm not really a fan of handhelds, I find the controls uncomfortable but this might change that so kudos to Sony. Well other than for the weird name

Sorry Sony, looks cool and all but i'm not made of money...especially for a handheld. I definately will be waiting till the price goes down, or maybe Nintendo will top it tommorow

The cheesefest that was Disneyland Adventures Kinect demo was what ruined it for MS. Absolute cringefest. "Fist pump!"??????? *PUNCH*

MS was great until MS arrived

Nice name, stupid comment, expect more from people who would stay up this late to watch E3 but hey i guess we can't have everything. Why be so rude?
To the other guy who commented, if you read my other posts you would know im actually a NINTENDO fanboy this is how much Sony's presentation impressed me.
The Microsoft presentation was terrible, they started with a multi format title and filled in the majority of their presentation with kids playing awfull casual kids games like Disneys adventures...... erghhhhh
I've just bought another slimline 360 as well so imagine how upset i am right now after watching that, like i said i loved Mass effect and ghost recon though.
Tommorow when i post on the Nintendo showcase i wonder if i will be as happy, god i hope so.
Imaduck on 7 Jun '11 said:
I hope so too, I hope Nintendo do better than the other 2, less highs and lows and more solid climbing line. You just came across kind of "yay Sony!" and then proceed to do that on every single thread. You need sleep dude, glad that you genuinely enjoyd it though

I'm with Mr Duck there. Again, it was 'good' but not 'great'- though the aforementioned Disneyland game from the MS conference was just shameful. Uncharted 3 will rock hard as will Infamous 2- but I couldn't care less about the ol' Vita there.
Bryanee1983 on 7 Jun '11 said:
It was a good show but to much Move, to much talky talk and a lack of new PS3 games. Uncharted 3 and the Vita stuff really helped elevate the show. Nintendo's should be interesting tomorow.

Megatron is very tired...... Need sleeeeeeep
I just want to say that once everyone has shown everything and CVG etc do all their highlights Sony will come out looking great, as a gamer i love new things especially things not on other consoles thats why i watch every showcase... To see something new and this presentation was great, yeah i didn't care about Move at all but i still enjoyed the fact that they showed exclusive stuff for it, that was kinda cool right?

I really liked the "ship in a storm" motion idea in UC3, was pretty sweet and confusing. Seasick people are going to lurv that level

Something like that could work on the Vita. Where you wobble it or something, rock the console side to side. Maybe play as Godzilla shaking sailors off a boat or summit!

I think the price is definitely great news. A lot of people were weary of that one (myself included) after what happened with the PSP Go but I think at that price, it can genuinely compete with the 3DS. Although I would have liked some more original IP for the thing, Uncharted, LBP and Modnation Racers are all great if they make a launch line-up. A fine cuisine compared to the 3DS's.
Target Renegade on 7 Jun '11 said:
Probably because it's so late/early and the fact that there was nothing on show to get that excited about.
But hey, you had fun. Right? Good!

Coz we are suckers to paying the prices!
Buy it in Asia... will work out to be roughly £181-185.

I'm not a big fan of most of those games, or the Sixaxis, but otherwise this looks fantastic. I very rarely play games away from home though, so I won't buy this, but that may change when I go to uni.
gmcb007 on 7 Jun '11 said:
As brillant as the level was, it wasn't very original. COD MW and Tomb Raider both done 'escape the sudden sinkin/capsizing ship' level before. Still though it is always a good mission to play.
shiftyraccoon on 7 Jun '11 said:
Not again... $299 = £279 hmm
Good job I got 2 3DS's for the price of one (thanks Amazon delivery driver) I can't undertand why us Brits get charged almost 50% extra for things

By any chance was the Vita semi-developed by Wheetabix?

The tax in the UK is much higher than the US. thats why things cost alot more than the US.
Any americans can shut up about things costing too much, they pay half what we do for things like Fuel.
Gryzor on 8 Jun '11 said:
For a start, you seem to forget that the US price does not include sales tax. Secondly, the price of something in one country has little to do with another. They have to price it competitively within the market they are selling, and also relative to everything else that is out there in that market. I agree, it kinda' sucks to have these high prices, but at the same time there is more to the cost of an item that the RRP - earnings and cost of living all factor in.
Would I want to work and live in the US just so I could pay a bit less for an electronic gadget? Yeah right...I don't think so somehow. Bring one over on import though, fair enough.

I know tis has nothing to do with the Vita but "Wherefore art thou?" actually means 'WHY are you.' As in "Why are you a Montague." http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/262200.html
Sorry it just annoys me a bit when I see it.
Anyway... On topic! I love the look of the PSVita! I've already pre-ordered one, so I'm really impatient at the moment. just want a release date!
