PS Vita release date THIS YEAR, price confirmed

$249 for Wi-Fi model, $299 for 3G, out worldwide in 2011

Sony has confirmed that the PS Vita WILL be out during 'holiday' this year. Globally.

Sony also priced the two SKUs of the PSP successor. The Wi-Fi-only model will cost a whoop-inducing $249 (€249), while the 3G/Wi-Fi version will cost $299 (€299 Euros).

That matches Nintendo's pricing for the less powerful 3DS. Impressive, no? This announcement concluded Sony's E3 2011 press conference moments ago.

UK retailer GAME has started taking pre-orders for PlayStation Vita, listing UK prices of £229.99 for the Wi-Fi version and £279.99 for 3G one.

Sony confirmed earlier today that 'more than 80 titles' are in development for the PSP successor. Check out anumber of them in this PS Vita E3 trailer.
