Digital Extremes is developing a new Star Trek game to coincide with the release of JJ Abram's upcoming Star Trek movie - and we've got the first trailer.
Set for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year, Star Trek (no subtitle yet, but expect one soon) will feature an original story and an "unprecedented co-op experience" that casts players as Kirk and Spock, who must work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.

For a Star Trek game that actually looks pretty good. The last time I enjoyed a Trek game was Starfleet Academy and Bridge Commander on the PC.

After years of waiting for a good star trek game, they are finally going ahead with one... but wait - its based on JJ abrams cash cow. Whats wrong with the 40 years of lore that Star Trek fans have engaged themselves in?? These characters, whilst based on TOS, have only been on our screens for 2 hours. Rewritten history and changed everything we know. No matter how good this game is, its not going to be anywhere near as good as it could have been if Hollywood would sod off with their reboot everything policy and left star trek alone. We are now destined to never have a trek game based on or around the shows that made star trek what it is. ANGER.

There have been many games based on the old Trek series', unfortunately not a whole lot of them have been good. I love all the old Star Treks, and while I usually hate the culture of "reboots" or "reimaginings", the new Star Trek was actually good, so why not make a game in that universe?

the new star trek was a good film i agree, but its damaged star trek so much its difficult to see what they can do to repair it. These actors arent going to commit to a series, thats pretty much obvious. One, possibly 2 big screen sequels? then what? a new series in abrams universe? unlikely. go back to the real universe? i think its too late. I kno there have been trek games b4 based on the 'real' universe, but as you say they wernt spectacular, a few were good, but my dream of a mass effect style star trek game look dead and buried unless something spectacular happens. shame.
