Following Nintendo's announcement of the Wii U, our friends over at T3 have gone live with an exclusive Wii U hands-on preview.
The new console stunned E3 crowds as it was shown to be the dual-sticked, touchscreen packing controller that has been rumoured for so long.

The presentation video kicked off, however, with perhaps the device's most impressive feature - also rumoured - the ability to play a game on the big screen and then, seemingly being able to carry on playing using just the controller instantly.
T3's Adam Bunker notes that the Wii U is trying to do three things at once; innovate, win back the hardcore and keep the family market.
They aren't exactly easy things to do together but Bunker says the console works thanks to "mind-boggling tech inside both the console and the controller."
Head over to T3 for more.

Nintendo just won E3 right there baby, i'm not a fan of motion control gaming, i prefer holding a controller instead of jumping about like a loony but f*ck me the Wii U looks damn impressive

After watching the Conference I really want the new Wii now. It seems to be a lot of good third party support.

Have they said anything in regards to how powerful it is compared to the PS3 and Xbox?

When they showed the wii zapper with the new controller mounted on it, did anyone else think man this would be just perfect for SILENT SCOPE!!!

I'm sorry but that controller looks very uncomfortable

I'm a bit worried about that too. They threw everything in there, but will I be able to hold it?

And will it vibrate? Some sort of rumble feedback is just as important for immersion as other features I feel.
Balladeer on 7 Jun '11 said:
Yes. Reggie said it would. Him or Iwata - one of the two.

If it's big enough for japanese hands, it's big enough for ours.
Nintendo are too thorough not to have thought this through.

Really? The N64 and GC controllers were crap
Balladeer on 7 Jun '11 said:
What? Granted the N64 controller had that stupid extra prong, but it was very comfortable to hold. Same with the GC one.
rbt2 on 7 Jun '11 said:
The N64 pad was arguably the best controller ever and the GC weren't bad either.

Looks interesting. Can't wait to try it out.
Couple of questions though. Just how much are those controllers going to cost? Its going to be pretty pricy if its got that screen, a built in battery and its own processor, GPU etc...

You're obviously crazy
N64 pad was designed for Mario64 and no other game basically. The Gamecube controller was simply the worst controller I've ever used.

Just imagine being able to touch the screen to zoom in on a target. I'm also thinking how cool it would be to enter a dark room as Sam fisher hold up the controller, touch an icon to activate night vision and look around the room with the full 360 gyroscope tech the controller as built in. Awesome, just awesome!!

So....how much is a second/additional controller?
I'm interested in the machines capabilities, but very unsure of the controller.
The N64 is possibly the worst controller/joystick I've ever had to use in 30 years of gaming BTW!

The GC controller was just ..... awful

The GC controller was awesome - would have been perfect had they not decided to use that bloody C stick instead of the regular thumb stick.

The gamecube controller was comfortable to hold but the buttons were crap. The z button was kind of hard to press, the triggers weren't good and didn't even have a L1 type button O_o
