Here's a 20 minute video interview with id Software co-founder John Carmack shot at E3 this week.
Our man on the floor in LA managed to pin the Doom and Quake lead programmer down long enough to chat about a variety of topics, including the studio's upcoming FPS Rage, consoles' impact on the PC market, future hardware and more. It's essential viewing, so check it out.

Awesome stuff. Genius bloke.
I'm so glad that Mr Carmack highlighted latency issues (14:15>)
I've been banging on to anyone who would listen for years about this and how much lag is in a game from your TV/PJ post processing an image before displaying it to you.
It's great to hear it from the horses mouth.
Now I can blame my lame skills in COD on my TV... I knew it was that all along.

Good to see an interview with "the legend" himself, John Carmack. His enthusiasm, and the way he's concerned with each and every technical aspect of gaming , for an improved user experience , this really sets him apart imho.
Interesting that he said they've got to give future PC versions of id games more priority due to the raw HP. It would have been interesting to know if that's what they plan on doing for Doom 4 and when they plan on having something to show.

He's a massive brain. It's clear he has a passion for what he does.
Interviewer seemed really nervouse though.

Maybe the interview was conducted at very short notice, most of the questions did seem improvised.

I find JC's interviews about Rage (or anything else actually) much more interesting than all the other news about id games.
JC is my God. All hail the Doom-bringer.

He wasn't the Doom bringer, he was the Doom Tech bringer. =)
It's always so interesting when he pops up and talk about his work. <3

Many would love to see Epic's equally impressive Tim Sweeney and John Carmack sit down together, to discuss the future of gaming and tech trends.
Note. to CVG, please try to make this happen.

Fantastic interview with one of the legends of the gaming industry. Carmack is my favorite gaming personality, it's an absolute pleasure to hear him speak about his trade. Thanks for this.

So...is it rational to call this man a genius? I'm inquiring because I have yet to hear someone speak as openly and realistically about the industry. Wow, I really admire the guy.
Remember the comment he made about purchase "we are making experiences, people like enough to pay for them" I bet the next time if I remember this quote, I will not pick up the game I thought I wanted. Essentially he's saying how bad do you want this game and is it "actually" worth the money, right?
