BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka has urged fans to give the Kinect features in Mass Effect 3 a chance.
Speaking to CVG's LA agents at E3, when asked about the differences in experience between playing Mass Effect 3 on controller versus with Kinect, Muzyka said the studio is aware it has audiences on a variety of platforms.
It isn't assuming everyone has Kinect and has en devoured to create rewarding experiences for all of modes, he said. Hear it straight from the man himself in the video below.
Muzyka also promised the delay to 2012 will pay off in the end.

I've really enjoyed the previous Mass Effect titles and I'm sure if it really didn't work Bioware wouldn't have kept with it. Yeah okay, I'll give it a go. After all, if I wasn't willing to try anything new I'd still be playing my Binatone*.
*For those who haven't been in gaming (or alive that long), Google it!

I don't see y u can't use as normal Xbox headset to give the voice comand
I don't see y on the PS3 u can't use your Eye toy and wireless headset to do everything kinect does, ok kinect uses 2 cams, but they could just add in the move.
On PC I don't see y we can't use a microphone to give voice commands, or use a webcam (or 2) which is essentialy all kinect is. 2 Cams and a mic.
ACTUALLY ON SECOND THOUGHTS
this is POINTLESS and STUPID BIOWARE
GTFO!

I'm gonna give it a go definitely, quite like the idea of acting out shepherds lines. My wife on the other hand will probably not appreciate it so much when I'm shouting orders at the tv like a crazy loon

b*****ks to that... why suffer a delay in commands when I can press a button on the pad and issue the order instantly?
Message to Bioware and every other developer taking the Move/Kinect cheques from Sony/MS.... please stop ruining our games by packing them with s**tty functions 99% of "proper" gamers couldn't give two farts about.

It's as if Bioware want to pi** off their fans now. But so long as those of us who haven't purchased pointless gimmicks for our 360s aren't negatively affected, I couldn't care less.

Bioware = "We're releasing a conversion of Mass Effect on the PC"
Xbox Fanboys = "Boo! Hiss! Hate! f**k you Bioware!"
Bioware = "We're releasing a conversion of Mass Effect 2 on the PS3"
Xbox and PC Fanboys = "Boo! Hiss! Hate! f**k you Bioware!"
Bioware = "We're allowing you the OPTION to voice control certain commands using Kinect"
***THE WORLD SPINS OFF ITS AXIS***
Seriously ladies, grow up.
Saying what you see in conversation is a little gimmicky, but allowing you to voice control powers in combat is actually really smart, while not taking anything away from the game for non-Kinect gamers.
If you've played ME1&2 on the PC and mapped all your powers to keyboard shortcuts, you'll realise that the Kinect control allows this level of real time control. If you don't fancy that, stick to pause and play dial menus using the controller. This is not even a negative thing in any way. Its either a good thing or a "meh" thing depending on your style of play.
I for one am looking forward to being able to change squad members orders on the fly without breaking play and pausing every 10 secs. And if any other human being happens to be in the house that night, I'll play the old fashioned way.
As for using PC mic for voice control I *think* kinect has some firmware in there that makes it a little more accurate than a random headset mic - otherwise theyu may as well release the feature for anyone with a PC/PS3/Xbox headset.

Since a game I got for christmas years ago, Rainbow Six Vegas, allowed me to do it with a standard xbox microphone I say no, p**s off. Im not shelling out for kinect over such a pathetic feature. Just because your stupid toy that was designed to compete with the wii is being shoehorned into games it has no place being doesnt mean I will humour you.
Besides, Id sound like an absolute prat sitting there in my room in front of my TV spouting garbage voice commands.
I also wont give any potential multiplayer a chance either. Its hard enough hoping Bioware wont ruin Mass Effect by focusing too much on braindead twitch combat to the detriment of the rest of the game without worrying about tacked on nonsense like this or some money grubbing multiplayer mode.
Just release the game as a single player shooter/RPG (that implies a balance between the two, NOT RPG ending up as an afterthought) and give its plot, world and characters the send off it deserves, because despite the best efforts of ruining it all from the dumb middle act, the trilogy got off to a really great start (minus sloppy gameplay issues, that were ultimately replaced by emaciated gameplay regarding anything other than cover based TPS gameplay).

This
Seriously its as if Bioware have asked people to stick a kebab skewer down their japs eye or something.
Its an extra option for people who have Kinect and who knows, maybe Bioware will pull it off and it enhances the gameplay for those that decide to use it and haven't just put their fingers in their ears and went "lalalalalalalalalala".
Nobody's saying you have to go buy Kinect to play Mass Effect 3 so why all the negative comments. "Why are Bioware trying to p**s off all its customers by adding an extra control scheme, curse them they must work for the devil!" Seriously how is this offending you people? You don't want to use the feature then don't, its still gonna be the same game as the PS3 and PC versions.
Its optional, you can just use the pad only if you want, but what if Bioware manage to be the first company who successfully blend pad and Kinect control into the one package enhancing the game for those who aren't blinkered. What you gonna do then eh?

Spot on Moribundman- I'll be giving this a whirl when ME 3 is released. I agree reading Shepards lines wasn't quite what I was expecting but during combat it'll keep things faced pace and really immersive. Heck, who know- you may even bond with your team mates a little more.
The fact that ME 3 can still be played in exactly the same way as the previous 2 means people are literally are moaning for no reason whatsoever.
TheLastDodo on 8 Jun '11 said:
How do you play Mass 3 when not giving out commands or voicing the dialogue yourself? How does the standard moving, shooting, taking cover work? Do you do that stuff with a traditional controller or is it all Kinect based (if you have Kinect)?
kmcroc on 8 Jun '11 said:
Don't worry Dr. Ray Muzyka not all ME3 fan are close minded tools some of us have bought an extra kinect & pre-ordered two copies of the ME3 LE . can't wait to bark out orders to my teammates.
kmcroc on 8 Jun '11 said:
Nobody asked you to think , they simply as those with kinect to try it before judging & for those that do not have kinect the game is just as great without kinect.
kmcroc on 8 Jun '11 said:
Actually it's their game & they can add whatever feature they want , you as a consumer have two choices a)buy it & enjoy b)don't buy it & go about your life. clear enough for you .
Queen Skillage on 8 Jun '11 said:
Not close minded, but still a tool. How will having two Kinects and two copies of ME3 help in any way - it just means your IQ is smaller than your shoe size.
It does look interesting and it'll be a good addition, but won't help shift Kinects.
mogel94 on 8 Jun '11 said:
If I ever get a Kinect I might give it a spin, but so far that seems unlikely.
kmcroc on 8 Jun '11 said:
@Queen Skillage logically speaking the reason why some would buy two kinect sensor or even ME 3 games could simply be due to 2 reasons 1)have plenty of space in the rooms where they will be set up in 2) i can afford it & why not support something i like .as for questioning my intelligence, have nor the time & don not care to partake in a debate of intellect at this time.

Guys - I have terrible, TERRIBLE news...
Apparently the next Forza game will be optionally compatible with Microsoft's new wireless steering wheel AND Kinect.
That means we all HAVE to go out and spend over *£200 PLUS* before we even BUY the damn game.
We *HAAAAVE* to...
Because playing the game with a controller, as a perfectly viable option, would not make us ANGRY enough to post on CVG.
So I'll HAVE to go out and but £200 worth of hardware and play the game with it and then hate Dixons, Microsoft, the game and myself now and forever, amen...
ensabahnur on 8 Jun '11 said:
Ohh God no, please say it isn't so.
Thats it i'm f**king off to go live in a cave where i won't hear about new things and will never have to make a choice about gaming again.

Dixons is still going
I got my Megadrive from a nice little local one back in the day. Much better than Comet, bloody hate that place.
Black Mantis on 8 Jun '11 said:
Have to say it's amusing watching people get worked up over an optional control scheme that they don't even have.
"I'll look like an idiot playing this!" - Do you generally play games like ME with an audience? Draw the curtains if your neighbours are peeping toms.
Tragic!
ensabahnur on 8 Jun '11 said:
Online they're still going but i don't think they've got any stores left.
And whilst they were better than Comet they were still robbing bastards.
Moribundman on 8 Jun '11 said:
"Currys Digital" - I stand corrected.
Don't usually go to any of those anyway, if I simply MUST buy hardware on the highstreet I'll shop around on Tottenham Court Road and haggle with all the independent (seemingly-randomly-exclusively-Asian) fellows with a twinkle in their eye.
Eeeh, I remember when you could get Speccy games for £1.99 in Boots, WH Smith or your local corner shop... Them were the days...
(Actually, adjusted for inflation, the fact a BUDGET game was two quid in the late 80s and you can get good mobile phone games made on a similar business model for the same price or less over 20 years later is a very encouraging thing).
darkr8zor on 8 Jun '11 said:
For squad commands, fair enough (though it has been said, why not just have headset support too?) - but saying a line in conversation and having it repeated again (though in a longer format) by Shepard just seems....silly.
If the protagonist was silent like in DA1, it would make more sense - I'd have hours of fun impersonating a dwarf, especially the drinking aspect.

While playing ME 1 & 2, never did I think, "wow, this would really be enhanced by some voice commands". I'm comfortable with a controller rather than my squad mates thinking I've told them to do one thing when I was trying to get them to do something else. That, and I'm not splashing out £80 - 130 for an accessory for one game. I'm not sure my front room is big enough for Kinect, and that's fine by me.
