EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau has said Nintendo's newly announced home console, the Wii U, would be a good fit for BioWare's Mass Effect series.
Speaking with GameTrailers, the exec was asked if Mass Effect 3 would be coming to the Wii U and if any thought had been given to how the controller would be incorporated.
Although he responded by saying he wasn't able to announce anything, he did say the franchise would be a good fit with Wii U and that something will be announced "when the time is right".
"I can't say we are going to do it on the Wii U, but you can imagine what we could do with that controller in the Mass Effect universe. It feels like a really nice fit, but we'll announce that when the time is right."

Nope, I'm sorry, I CAN'T imagine what you could do with that controller while playing Mass Effect.

how about menus on the screen? or quick touch buttons mapped to certain actions?

Yeah f**k YOU BIOWARE. Stop giving us CHOICE. We f**king HATE CHOICE!!!
Why can't I just live in an absolute totalitarian dictatorship where my every action is decided, steered and governed and I don't have the terror of being able to select between a PC, a 360, +Kinect, a PS3 and a WiiU to play the same game... I'm terrified I may make a subjectively "wrong" choice that goes against the general consensus...
STOP FORCING ME TO OBSESSIVELY COMPULSIVELY BUY ALL THE SYSTEMS PLUS THE SAME GAME ON ALL SYSTEMS JUST SO I CAN MOAN ABOUT HOW I HAD TO BUY ALL THE SYSTEMS AND THE SAME GAME ON ALL THE SYSTEMS. NOOOOOOOOOOO.

If anything, this bodes very well for the depth of strategy in combat. I'm hoping that this will truly benefit from Keyboard shortcuts on the PC, Voice commands on Kinect and controller screen taps on WiiU.
Might make frantic gun battles on Insanity level less of a chore than they are using the standard 360/PS3 controls, which are essential but fiddly at that difficulty.

100% agree. I can absolutely say that, having played through Mass Effect 1 four times, and Mass Effect 2 three times, I've never once thought about a second screen on my gamepad gimmick, or kinect motion/voice control gimmicks, or multiplayer, or anything different to what ME1 and ME2 already are.

that would be sweet

No imagination what-so-ever you two, like already suggested mapping actions to the touch screen like all the weapons and the powers wheel for example would be a small but useful addition, I'm sure Bioware could come up with some really cool ideas using both screens.

This.
Anyone would think Bioware were threatening to come in and break both of every last players thumbs so they can't use the analogue sticks before pointing s**t-smeared pointy bamboo spikes in the small of their backs until they cry out and use the voice commands instead.
You wobbling penarses DO realise you can still play the game on all three existing formats in exactly the same way you always have, don't you?
Do you firebomb devs offices whenever you see the alternate control page for left handed people in game manuals?

As well as that how about a map on the screen too and touch it to mark out a location point you want you're team mates to go, that would be useful, I didn't get on very well with that in ME2 trying to get teammates in certain positions trying to stop them from dying and actually be useful.

I think it's a great idea. Instead of holding down the left trigger to use, for example Liara's singularity, you can just push the button the the Wii U controller. Or you can just tap at the enemy you want to shoot on the screen instead of fiddling with the control stick.
I say go for it BioWare.
Also it's a good excuse to get Shep on Super Smash Bros...
