And it's "Flare Red" - for Japan only (for now)

Nintendo's announced the first new colour for the 3DS. 'Flare Red' is the new paint job and it'll hit shelves on July 14, in Japan at least.

Andraisang notes that the new hardware job coincides with the Japanese release of Star Fox 64 on the 3DS. There's no news yet on whether or not we can expect the colour variation to grace our shores.

The Nintendo 3DS was released at launch in two colours; 'Aqua Blue' and 'Cosmos Black'.

That red is completely different to the one shown at E3 last year.
This one is less flare and more wine imo

Maybe it's time they released colours that appeal to a mass market, i.e. black/white. Bright colours will always appeal to kids over adults, which is only a portion of their target market.
