Peter Molyneux has confirmed that Fable: The Journey is being designed as a core game.
Speaking to journalists at E3, the Lionhead boss acknowledged it would be no easy task to draw in core gamers, who tend to be "really tied to their controllers".

"We had been working on a project called Milo for well over a year so we had lots of experience with Kinect, but this is a challenge that's not for the faint hearted, to be honest with you, because I think that the core, as such, are really tied to their controllers.
"I think what we need to do is to prove that you can have as full and engaging and as immersive and as easy to control and as comfortable a game as anything you'd have on a controller," he added.
Molyneux also said of this week's Fable: The Journey E3 video demonstration: "I made a horrendous mistake on the press demo of taking out the navigation allowing players to move. I'll just state on record now that Fable: The Journey is definitely not on rails."

Is that really true Peter, or did you just make that up
.... Quick! Someone tell the lab-boys they need to make it so it's not on rails

Yup it's a core game all right.......
As in Cooooooar what a piece of crap. Forget the on rails or not on rails point, its just rubbish, the response timing to the players actions sucked, im all for trying new things but not this.

For a moment there, I thought I read "c**t" game.

As a core gamer I really don't care whether I use a motion controller or a dual-shock controller - as long as I can enjoy the game. RE4:Wii was one of my favourate gaming experiences ever. Using Move with No More Heroes PS3 was one of my worst gaming experiences ever
Why can't Microsoft just release a wireless nunchuck type device so you can move / click buttons with one hand and interact with the other hand? Why is all this "you-are-the-controller" nonsense so important? Kinect is good at what it does but it could be great with everything if there was an optional controller, with a button or two

The video they showed wasn't very impressive to be honest, but I've really got into Fable 3 as of late and I've enjoyed the previous games so I'll wait and see where this goes.
What? Someone had to bring balance to the constant moaning!

Know what you mean. After the initial disappointment of seeing the features from Fable2 that had been dropped, I found myself really getting into it as the game went on and ended up really enjoying it.
@Padua
I'm sceptical about using Kinect for a game like this as well, I like having a controller, but I suppose this is how new ways to play games will develop, they have to try these things. How would you feel if Capcom had decided that you need a proper controller for an RE game and didn't bother experimenting to arrive at RE4?
Think they are missing a trick doing this with Fable though, obviously they are wanting the brand recognition, I can't help but feel that Black & White 3 would be a good game to make for Kinect.

Yes Peter Molyneux is terrible, Black and White, Fable series, Theme Park, Magic Carpet, Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper, The Movies *sigh*
Fable is terrible? Really? Not your cup of tea maybe but both my parents and inlaws now own xboxes specifically for Fable.
Kinect has sold 11 million, Microsoft need to bring their franchises to it.
If you dislike Molyneux and the Fable games fine, they still sell millions and Peter still does something none of us can do, make muli million selling games.

Recently started playing Fable 2 there and i'm loving it. The 3rd looks watered down from the second but i'll have to wait and see. But this game didn't look much.

How do you walk around without a controller?
corkscru74 on 12 Jun '11 said:
Lean? Like in that god-awful Star Wars Kinect game?
I resent Peter's comments though. We're tied to our controllers? I'll happily embrace Kinect when they bring out a game that isn't a Wii Sports rip-off or Animal fiddling game! Oh and that actually works i.e. The control is intuitive and natural.
I bought a Wii didn't I Peter? What more do you want from me!!!

I agree thats this game looks pretty bad at the moment, yet to say Fable 3 averaged 70's is just preposterous.
