Square Enix has sent over 19 hi-res Tomb Raider screens and bucketful of artwork fresh from the game's showing at E3 2011.

Although Microsoft's conference on Monday is roundly judged not to have exactly set Los Angeles on fire, the appearance of Lara was certainly a high point.

The title is a true 'reboot', pitting a 21-year-old Lara against all sorts of nasties on an island off the coast of Japan. Her mission is simply to survive.

The Crystal Dynamics-developed game, which has obviously been influenced by the Uncharted series, is due for release on 360, PS3 and PC next year.

Check out the screens by clicking on the above, and refresh your mind of that gameplay footage from Microsoft's conference below.

For me this was definately one of if not the best highlights in E3.
Totally gobsmacked and hoping the finished product has the sustained flair and atmosphere on show here, already pre-ordered on play.com!!!!

I would say yes. Not because of personal opinion, but the amount of people who were suprised and extremely pleased by the demo.

This, along with Farcry 3, were definitely the hits of the show for me. I was also quite pleased about the live tv on xbox thing, but I'm waiting on more details with that.

I couldn't have cared less about a new TR... until I saw the E3 demo :D

I never really liked TR, I remember playing the first ones like 15+ years ago but I was never a real fan...

Let me guess. You are a Uncharted fanboy right? C'mon. Be positive. Try to praise the person who deserve it. Voice actress of Lara had done a great job about the sound & everything.

LT RT LT RT QTEs are the WORST recurring design decision of this generation. Also, Auto-jump? FFS I want to play the game not just point Lara in a direction and watch. It looks incredible but, I miss the days when playing games was allowed to be hard and designers didn't pander to people how sucked at their game. Give me a jump button and get rid of the shoulder button QTEs and I will approve... DO IT!!!!!!
