Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski says he's determined to make sure the immensely successful Gears of War series isn't the "final Legacy" of the third-party studio.
Putting it more bluntly, he told Digital Spy: "But I can tell you now that if for the rest of my life I am only remembered for a f**king chainsaw gun, I will drink a bottle of whisky and put a gun in my mouth. I am far from done with everything."

"It could never just be, 'Hey, Marcus and Cole are back [and] there's more Locust!' Gears is amazing and I love it, absolutely adore it, but it will not be the final legacy of this studio."
Bleszinski added that Epic, which is set to release the third Gears game on September 20 worldwide, is trying to "work out" how social, mobile and triple-A game development comes together.
"As a studio, we are considering where the industry has shifted," he said. "In a few years' time I think people will still want to pay $60 (£37) for a AAA rated game, but they are not going to want to pay $60 for an OK game.
"We are still trying to work out what social and mobile mean for the entire industry. What are the ways that we can bring triple A to those realms? Stay tuned."
The Gears designer told CVG at E3 this month he's "hoping we can get close to Halo numbers" with Gears 3 online.

There's plenty of other things the studio can be remembered for already. The Unreal engine for a start. It's probably the most commonly used game making tool in the history of the industry.
Then there's unreal itself. Which deserves more love. I wish they'd make another proper unreal game, maybe as a showcase for the version of the engine like they used to. I'd play unreal 3 in a heart beat.

Oh, you definately will be. Do us all a favour and carry out your threat. Please! You don't need to worry about the whisky bit, that's not too important, but don't forget to pull that trigger.

He won't only be remembered for Gears. I'm pretty sure he'll be remembered for being a bit of a gobs**te as well!

Could be worse you could be remembered for been that guy who took Duke Nukem and turned him into a Turd.

How old are you? 8? To wish that on someone is just ridiculous.

What a muppet in all fairness, devs talking like that does nothing for the image of the games industry.

Cliffy B says something retarded.
Forum posters far & wide respond by making equally retarded comments.
Conclusion: Everyone is retarded.

No hes not 8, hes a 42 year old virgin with a phobia of 3rd person shooters.
Cliffy, come up with something thats not a shooter with homo-erotic undertones and maybe you will be remembered for something apart from Gears.
Imaduck on 20 Jun '11 said:
a3Headedmonkey nailed it. How can some fo you be such assholes? Do you practice?
On topic, Gears is hardly a bad thing to be remembered for, it's a a brilliant series. The Unreal engine powers a lot of other games too. Bioshock runs on it, AA runs on it .......
I don't get why people hate "Cliffy B" so much. He seems pretty down to earth and passionate to me. I'd rather listen to him get excited about the games and speak to us straight than some wanker in a suit talk down to us at E3.

Hey Cliff cheer up. At least you won't be remembered for fist bumping or pronouncing 'Ridge Racer' like an idiot.

I remember this guy made a comment about being called a fag on the internet or something - it sparked a thread on CVG a few years back and literally had 5 pages of 1 or 2-word insults. It was the single funniest thread I've ever read - that's what I'll remember you for Cliffy.

If you're remembered at all I'll shoot myself. How many people here can tell us who programmed Yars Revenge (80s version) without looking it up?
almanac2015 on 20 Jun '11 said:
Don't shoot yourself Cliff! Run naked through a city centre into a museum, destroy some stuff and then shoot yourself. You'll be remembered for more than Gears then.

I remember when John Romero was quoted as saying. 'Everyone wants to be remembered for something. For me, it's Daikatana'... So there are worse things for being remembered for. Of course, it's Doom really.

I can appreciate some of Cliff's views on the industry sometimes, because he's a passionate gamer and doesn't always toe the company line, so some of his views have a kind of blunt honesty to them, you know?
But this, well, it just comes across as conceited and arrogant. I'm pretty sure there's lots of indie developers who'd love to have the success of Gears, so it's kind of disrespectful to those dreams, and to the fans who've made a Gears a success. Humility Cliff, learn it and maybe then people won't rag on you as much.

My comment SHOULD have been taken as seriously the threat from Mr Bleszinski. To be taken taken any other way is just astonishing!
I don't have phobia of third-person games. What a ridiculous statement to make. I admit I don't care for third-person games, they're just not my thing. How anyone is insulted or hurt by that is completely beyond me.
As for mentioning my sexual experience; if it were suggested I was eight in order to highlight my immaturity, suggesting I'm a virgin more than equals that. Not to mention how sad it makes you sound.
