PlayStation Vita rear touchpad was almost rejected by Sony

Platform holder feared raising cost of new handheld

Sony nearly ditched the rear touchpad on the PlayStation Vita during development.

The PlayStation platform holder was coming at the new bit of hardware with a competitive retail price in mind, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida reiterated in an interview with Famitsu.

The rear touchpad was a feature that caused concerns over costs and one that Sony execs weren't sure players would get enough enjoyment out of.

"After trying the rear touch pad out, though, they immediately decided to use it," says Andriasang.
