Splinter Cell HD Collection delayed to September

Latest Ubisoft release schedule reveals another slip for the PS3 trilogy

The Splinter Cell HD Collection has been delayed from the first half of 2011 to a September 23 UK release.

The news comes via an updated Ubisoft release schedule released today. Last we heard, the trilogy was due to hit US retail this month.

The PS3 Blu-ray compilation will feature the original Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow and the brilliant Chaos Theory.

In April, Ubisoft delivered the disappointing news that the Splinter Cell HD Collection won't feature multiplayer modes.

    Never played a Splinter Cell game before, so a chance to play the first 3 games is intriguing.

    More so at least, than the Resident Evil collection which only has 2 games and both are from somewhere in the middle of the timeline. f**king pointless...

    The Resident Evil collection is not a collection :P And if you really want to play the whole series then the games are not very hard to get hold off, Re1 and 2 are on PSN no?... The Metal Gear Solid collection however,...

    I'm on the same boat, never played Splinter Cell myself, I look forward to getting this.

    In my humble opinion, Chaos Theory is by far the best of the three, and therefore, the only one really worth playing.
    Keep in mind though, that the PS2 version of Chaos Theory was seriously gimped compared to the Xbox and PC versions, due to memory limitations (check out IGN's review for details on all the shortcomings). So, if this HD compilation is an upgrade of the PS2 versions, you're still getting a gimped version of CT, even if it is in HD. Plus, you're not getting the brilliant Spies vs Mercs multiplayer mode. The PC game is the definitive version. Thankfully, the PC version is in HD (of course), it supports gamepads, is only €9.99 on Steam, and system requirements are very low. :)

    For anyone wondering...you won't be getting the gimped PS2 games remade in HD...or the much better but still not the best x-box version...you actually get the far superior PC version in HD...score. lmao

    @kes

    By the way, I thought i'd mention that ubisoft announced that we were getting the PC versions of the game a while ago...If we were getting the PS2 games...yeah, it wouldn't be ideal...but still would be better than nothing. I was psyched to hear that the PC versions were the ones being ported down.

    I picked up both chaos Theory and Beyond good and evil during ubisofts sale a few weeks again. I own them both on CD (somewhere) but no longer have a cd drive in my gaming PC so added them to the mighty steam collection. Only a couple of quid each, bargain.

    @runadumb: Sweet. Bargainous! I wanted to like BG&E, but I couldn't get used to the camera controls (left/right rotation is the opposite of what I'm used to). I was enjoying the gameplay itself, but the camera drove me nuts. Shame. :(

    The lack of multiplayer turned me completely turned me off this when I heard in April. I did enjoy the single player when it was originally released but that multiplayer was so damn good!
