Gears of War 3 torrent leak: Epic and Microsoft respond

'Leak does not represent final build' says Epic

Following the Gears of War 3 torrent leak over the weekend, Epic and Microsoft have responded in the usual manner.

Security teams and law enforcement have been brought into the mix, Microsoft said in a statement, and fans are assured that the leak does not represent the experience players will have with the real thing:

"We have seen the reports of Gears of War 3 content being propped on the Web and working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation," said Microsoft in a statement.

"This content is not from a final build and is not representative of what fans will enjoy when the game launches worldwide on September 20, 2011."

Epic seems fairly confident about the Gears of War 3 multiplayer offering. The studio reckons it has a chance of battling the likes of Halo online.

Seen there was a few videos that popped up over the weekend for Gears 3, didint watch any of them and dont intend to either.

This is one of my most anticipated Games this year and I dont want any spoilers to be given away.

Sure it wont impact on the sales of the Game anyway.

I doubt this'll have any effect on sales at all. If anything it might help build hype further.

It's all of the big Triple AAA releases that these supposed leaks keep happening to, its also nice free PR as well.

How can this happen, they should have had this guarded round the clock after all the other torrents of big games that have been leaked. So complacent, after the amount of money these people put into these games Is there any reason why they would want this to happen? let the community get a sniff, and if they complain about anything then it can be fixed before official release?

Stupid move for the guy who uploaded himself playing it on Youtube. Im pretty sure he can be IP tracked. Also, it wasn't a good idea having him navigating through a a hacked Xbox either.

    Anyways:

He will be getting a knock on the door very soon methinks, hope the cretin enjoyed his 10 seconds in the spotlight.

Notable too that MS have been pretty swift on this leak, good work.

Can't wait for gears and really enjoyed the multi for it..But I do have to say that i'm most excited for Uncharted 3's multi as it has some pretty intense stuff going for it.

no it wont have any affect on sales, but must we go thorugh this crap every year. Maybe they should secure more internally after all thats where the leak is coming from. they could put a unique code on all copies sent out for preview or what ever it is they do

"EPIC" fail. One or two weeks before launch, worst case scenario, over two months! That's crazy. This game has been ready for ages, it better had be polished to death!
