Resistance 3 senior designer Cameron Christian has said improved AI will be a key focus of the third game in the series.

The more intelligent AI, he reasons, goes together with a vastly improved weapon balance system to create a more tactical shooter. Weapon balance is critical too, because Resistance 3 has ditched the Halo-style two-weapon restriction and gone back to Doom-like bottomless pockets.
"Every weapon is generally effective against anything, but there's degrees of effectiveness. Let's talk about the Auger and that case with the Hulk fight, right? The Auger is going to be a bad choice, because there is no place for you to hide and shoot through walls. You can hit his weak points, and they'll do damage, but it's not going to be as effective as, say, the Magnum, which can stick to that guy and really do some serious damage to it," he explains.
Overpowered weapons have also been scaled back. "The Auger ... is people's favorite weapon, but it's their favorite weapon because it is super overpowered," admitted Christian. "We pull back the range on being able to see through walls. So before you could see through walls across a whole entire level, right? And now we pull that back to a significant distance."
Insomniac recently released an interesting 'Behind the Scenes' video on the game's AI and new enemies.

I think the weapons have got to be my favourite part of the Resistance games, I hope they add some new weapons as well as just remodelling the current ones for Resistance 3.

Resistance 1 was okay for a launch game but was a joke compared to Gears of war 1. Resistance 2 was a piece of crap no question and Resistance 3 will be just as crap.
Why they bothered with a third one after the second flopped I don't know.

I guess it didn't flop? People probably like the series or something.
People are always complaining about AI, regenerating health and a two weapon limit(pc gamers). I doubt this will receive much attention in those areas though. Hope the campaign is good.

I picked up RFOM as a launch title and enjoyed the hell out of it, reminded me of the Doom days, and it looked pretty good on my shiney new HDTV as well! The 2nd one was terriable tho, to many things to name that were wrong with it. Ill pick this up just because of my love for the first one.

There wasn't much intelligence last time around, artificial or other, so they might improve it with this new batch here no question. But that doesn't neccessarily mean it'll be any good...

Gears was dull and repetitive, so why they bothered with series after that, i dont know.
Hmm, are we seeing how opinions can differ from yours yet? , and how maybe other people like game, and the sales were sufficient to justify a new one?
interestingly critics average review score on metacritic was 87, not bad for a flop.

I love the Resistance series, the only real criticism I have of 2 is that it didn't have campaign co-op and the bosses were kind of sucky. I welcome back the bottomless pockets, I hate FPS games nowadays for only letting you carry 2 guns, I think it makes them more tactical if you have a whole arsenal at your disposal. And as for Gears I think it's a load of macho cock-gobbling bulls**t with no depth. Opinions are funny things like that
