EA has confirmed that there will be no mod tools for Battlefield 3.
Why? Because DICE's Frostbite 2 engine is too powerful to be messed around with, so keep your hands off.
EA senior VP Patrick Soderlund told German mag GameStar, "As of now, we are not going to make any modding tools."
"If you look at the Frostbite engine, and how complex it is, it's going to be very difficult for people to mod the game because of the nature of the set up of levels, of the destruction and all those things. It's quite tricky.
"So we think it's going to be too big of a challenge for people to make a mod."
We're sure there are plenty of you out there thinking "Challenge accepted."
Executive producer Patrick Bach said in February that DICE was still considering mod tools for Battlefield 3, but that if they were implemented they would be done in a different way to Battlefield 2.
