Analyst firm Wedbush Morgan has lowered its fiscal Q1 revenue estimates for Take-Two following "disappointing" Duke Nukem Forever sales.

"However, the game's poor reviews (average Metacritic score of 49) likely had a negative impact on sales, causing us to lower our Q1 sell-in estimate to 1.5 million units from 3.0 million units."
On the plus side, Wedbush said LA Noire had likely outperformed its estimates, and raised its forecast from 3.5 million to 4 million sales.
Take-Two said following DNF's release that it's committed to growing the franchise in the future.

I wouldnt worry about Take 2, they can afford to take the hit!
There cant be many titles that they have published that have been failures and I would imagine with a good Dev and non protracted dev cycle they could get a hit out of The Duke.

1.5 million sales isn't bad considering the critics have rated this game only marginally more enjoyable than cholera.

1.5 million sales is not a bad start, expect a small surge when every website and store has this at 19.99 or less (see Brink's chart rating based purely on that)
I have only just played Duke and to be honest it's not as bad as what many had led me to believe, i have filed it in the Legendary/Eat lead bracket and i think a 4/5 out of 10 to be fair. Theres moments of goodness in it but it's definately a project that should be be tried again, this time with a blank slate.
It was an impossible task for gearbox but at least they tried i suppose.

Cry me a river. Duke will get another game.
Shadows of The Damned sold f*ck all in UK, it got to #31 in the UK charts, #31, thats a much bigger tragedy than Duke only breaking 1m sales.

Loved the Duke game back in the day. Of what I could be bothered to play of the demo I found it pretty dull. I don't care about it's production issues, I played the game without predudice and found it completely underwhelming. It left me feeling that I knew exactly how the full game was going to play out (which is probably completely wrong) and so lost interest immediately. I don't know what I was expecting but the demo does little to entice. I think they pull it and release one that's more representative of the full game. Because if that's it, then it deserves the poor reviews and lower than expected sales.

1 million is too much for this game. I played the demo and it was awful. Haven't played a game this bad in a very long time. The reviewers are being too fair on it to be honest. I'd give it a 3/10 at best. Played less broken games on the PS1.

honestly what was everyone expecting of this! did people actually belive this game ws going to be 90+ reviews and a GTA 4 style seller. honestly the investorys in this game should be greatful their making any money back from it at all since it was declared dead a year ago

DNF is an appalling take on games of yesteryear, but I wouldn't exactly call its sales 'disappointing'. There are far more deserving games over the last 15 years it so that deserved recognition at retail level but failed to garner the interest of the easily led gaming public.

Oh, look, it's the fake CoD fanboy that plays it for 10 minutes then quits because he sucks at it. You should play your GOTY best game ever GT5...oh, you can't, because it sucked, and you didn't even get it after all that big talk...we get it, you don't like anything, you probably don't need to tell us in every story though drifter...oops, silver.

I see a few children still frequent the boards.
Amazes me how some gamers, regardless of age, vehemently defend such mediocre products.

Anyone who buys it now after they've released the demo needs help.

Not in my opinion, or should I conform because others don't like something?
I enjoyed DNF. No, it isn't the greatest game ever made, and it happily takes the p**s out of itself. It gave me some laughs and let me shoot pigs, so I'm happy with it.

Good for you. Personally I prefer to invest in games that deserve the attention. Crap like DNF selling as well as it did does more harm for the industry than good.
Queen Skillage on 6 Jul '11 said:
Good for you too, man. That's just super. You'll continue to buy the games that interest you, so good luck and God speed on your quest. Good day to you sir.

Duke Nukem's Nostalgia Factor = High
Duke Nukem's Overall Quality = Debatable, disappointing, borderline mediocre
Yeah. I guess most gamers have moved on and left Duke Nukem. Unless they make a miracle that would really revive the franchise.

Duke Nukem Forever should've been pushed back for another 2 or 3 yrs!

I don't know why the industry would need an analyst to state the obvious - We all knew that this thing was doomed from the start . . . . . ."starts" . . . . . I mean "restarts" . . . . *sigh* whatever. Its been too long and we've grown up and the industry has moved on. Frat boy gags and a lick of paint can't hide the way too simplistic gameplay. This straight-foward shooter type gameplay is rapidly being consigned to the Indy world and HD-remakes. Its like George Lucas doing a prequel trilogy to the orginal Star Wars films 20yrs later and then we act all surprised that their not as good . . . . . .Oh no, wait! . . . . . .

I was lead to believe that the sales were actually good. Anyway, there were parts of the game that were quite funny, overall the game was s**te though. Take the Duke Nukem name away and what would you get?
