'Rockstar Films' has been trademarked by GTA parent publisher Take-Two Interactive, paving the way for speculation of movie spin-offs for the likes of LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption.
The summary of the trademark reads:
Animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes.
We're sifting through our memory archives but can't for the life of us remember where the children's theme becomes relevant in the Rockstar line-up.
RockStarFilms.com and RockStarFilms.net are also registered to Take-Two.
Rockstar wouldn't be the first publisher to take movie making of its major franchises into its own hands. Ubisoft launched Ubisoft Motion Pictures in May to focus on video game spin-offs for Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.
