Assassin's Creed Revelations 'won't answer everything,' teases writer

Ezio's finale could feature some "devious" story twists

The third and final Assassin's Creed game in the Ezio Trilogy, Revelations, won't answer all the burning questions clouding the series, the game's writer has said.

Lead writer Darby McDevitt has confirmed what we already knew; Desmond's story will continue beyond the next game, which means the Assassin's story still needs to maintain an air of mystery.

"Well, we wont answer everything because Desmond's story continues. But fans will definitely know most of the important details of Ezio and Altair's lives, and how they fit into the grand scheme," he said.

One major question is whether Ezio will survive Revelations, what with it being the Italian's final chapter and all. At the ripe old age of 52, he's getting on in years too...

"52 is a good age," the Ubisoft writer said, "but one must remember that Ezio and Altair are rather special people. Also, although 52 was old in the 1500s, it wasn't uncommon for people to live for quite a long time.

"Suleimon the Magnificent lived to around 70, and one Janissary [Sultan's bodyguard] that we found lived to be 104."

McDevitt remained tight-lipped on Ezio's fate, mysteriously adding that "hardcore fans know the logic of the Animus prevents us from seeing certain things in a character's life - but we also know how to pull a few devious tricks. Just wait and see."

Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin's Creed Revelations will appear in its line-up for Comic Con in San Diego next week.

I hope Revelations shows both Altair's and Ezio's deaths in battles against the Templers rather than old age from a bed.

Great news! I remember the roaring success tv shows such as Lost and The X-Files had once everyone realised they'll never actually answer any of the questions raised. Oh, wait a minute ...

Really looking for to Revalations though, just need to keep a tight reign on the storyline.

Or perhaps something more enigmatic and less straightforward than simply death?

Some sort of finale to the series reprising the "uploaded" personalities of all the protagonists banding together in the animus, or better yet Desmond literally *becoming* Ezio or Altair mentally on a whim with all their memories and experience. Could branch into a strong schitzophrenia sideplot!

I just want to know if Jade Raymonds boobies will feature in the conspiracy somewhere.

Of course it won't answer everything. They have to leave the story open for Assassin's Creed 3. And Assasin's Creed 4. And Assassin's Creed: Sisterhood. And Assasin's Creed: Epiphany. And ... you get my point. No reason to finish the story while they can still milk it for more profits.

I hope Ezio has an epic death. If it is left as a cliffhanger like the past 3 games then Im snapping the disk, peeing on it, having a dump on it,making my cat have a pee on it, making my cat have a dump on it, making my friends cows pee on it, making my friends cows dump on it, having another pee on it myself, having another dump on it myself and throwing it in the bin with all its predecessors after they have ALL gone through that process. That sick pleasure will make up for wasting my money. Infact..... thats quite a good idea.

If I remember, Ezio's memories are passed on genetically. Therfore, it would make sense that Desmond's last memory from Enzio would be him getting 'lucky' with Desmond's great, great, great, great, great grandmother.

One could play as Ezio/Altair's son or daughter and witness their deaths if they really wanted to go ahead with it.

hahahahaha... quote of the week for me!! hahahaaa... nice!

Seriously, the Game Informer article, and their month long web coverage didn't say anything about this. At the time the staff talking about the game were just saying "yeah, blabla, everything will come together". Wtf, not that I'm not going to get this game, but my main gripe has been that I'm sick of being strung along doing the same sheet all the time. Oh well. You know what? I bet they just came to this point now, and were like... "Shoot, we can't figure this out!? Let's just figure it out later AGAIN!"
