Bethesda would like to keep development of the Elder Scrolls franchise an in-house affair, according to Skyrim game director Todd Howard.

Howard, who was also project lead on Morrowind and executive producer of Oblivion, added: "I mean New Vegas was unique: as a publisher, we wanted to do something with Obsidian; we knew we were moving on Elder Scrolls; they had a team available. They gave us the pitch and we were like, 'That would be a really fun game'. But they had experience with the IP, and with Elder Scrolls we don't have that. I wouldn't rule that out, but generally with everything we want to keep it internal."
Bethesda said this month it has no intention of releasing an Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim demo ahead of the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game's November 11 launch.

Just hope this doesn't go like Fallout has, Elder Scrolls is a unique world which doesn't need too much tinking around with.
Cannot wait for this.

I bet they'd rather keep it in-pub. I know I would if I were a developer. Although admittedly the development time on even the simplest of games would stretch into the decades.

HELL NO. I have rented every sequel that Obsidian has RUINED. Haven't ever gained my respect. Buggy crap is not for me. If they made an Elder Scrolls game I have to say that would be the first one I WOULD NOT buy
