Arkham City will be an "ongoing game" with a series of full, downloadable episodes post-release. At least, that's according to Bats himself.

He replied: "The gaming now is a big, new thing. The thing about Arkham City is that it's going to be an ongoing game. You're going to be able to download future episodes of it, so it's going to be going on for quite a while. I've been recording it for a while. So that will continue.
"I do a lot of commercial voiceovers because I live in New York and that's where Madison Avenue and a lot of the ad agencies are based so there's a lot of commercial work there. When I do animation work I have to be in L.A. So I tend to do a lot more commercial stuff right now."

Could Adam West Bats appear in Arkham City? Will we get whole single-player episodes post-release?
We've only got until October to find out...

The first lot of DLC is challenge maps, Robin and skins but other than that we have no idea what other DLC there could be. I do hope this is true though.

Seems like a good idea to me. I would gladly pay out for more these episodic DLC's. As long as these DLC's add to the story that is.

Oh great. As usual this gen the game isn't even out yet but they're already planning the rip-off dlc. Make the damm game first ffs, then maybe make some dlc afterwards if you really have to (although I wont be buying the dlc, just the game).

the game is made and done, so to do stand along episodes is a rather good thing, it means more bat between new titles every few years, in fact this might be the last bat game on current consoles..........

For all you know sonic, they might be planning free DLC, like they did with Arkham Asylum, also the DLC may contain multiple hours of content like GTA IV, Borderlands, Red Dead and Fallout provide.
I don't blame you for cynicism as lots of publishers exploit their games fans but I'll wait to hear about the price and content of this DLC before making my judgement.

Information about post-game DLC before we even know that much about the full retail release, yet again.
I agree with TheLastDodo in that we should really hear more about the nature of the DLC before we judge fully, but you have to admit, it's certainly concerning that DLC is being announced/hinted at this early on, both with this and other titles over recent times.
It's becoming painfully clear that developers are thinking on a "Retail and DLC" level when developing their games rather than "Retail then DLC". Sometimes taking content from the full game and charging it separate as DLC. DLC is supposed to be that beautiful thing we get when we have fond memories of a game and learn that we can revisit it when it expands, not something we've got to put extra money aside for on launch day when buying the original game in anticipation of it's arrival in a couple of days.
Why do we allow ourselves to be exploited this much as consumers? The signs are clear that developers are really pushing it, and will continue to do so. For example, Activision with their £30 worth of CoD maps. Maps for christ's sake. Capcom releasing Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom, content that should have been included in the original or as budget DLC, the original game has only been out for 5 months. Not even half a year.
I'm not exempt from blame, I've bought Red Dead DLC and others, but it really does add up. Games are costing us double what they should.
Rant over I guess.

Even though this great, especially if the price is god or free, I'm going to have to wait until they bring a Game of the Year or Ultimate Edition out as my connection to the PSN is absolutely sh!te!!!!
Oh well, still playing through Arkham Asylum on hard and have all the challenges still to do. Great game.

I think in the case of Arkham City, which is going to have a huge game to begin with, announcing continued content by DLC isn't a bad thing, from all the previews and ongoing news it's obvious that they have not held anything back from the main game, with a view to making some extra bucks from DLC with it. So if this DLC means an extended lifespan for Arkham City then it would be a welcome addition, as I've played Arkham Asylum through tonnes of times and I'm not bored of it yet.

Grow up it's a business for f**k sake. Most developers have sperate teams workin on DLC while the main game is bein worked on. Normally in the latter stages and it has nothin to do with the team workin on the main game. You see in business you work things out for the future of your product and not just the release of it.
Oh and you don't know it's a rip off, it's not even confirmed yet never mind priced. It could be f**kin free for all you know. And as usual I can 100% guarantee it won't be compulsory to buy it.
Swear to f**k gamers can be tha most childish, self-entitled t**ts sometimes. Tin foil hats are a go

F***ing hell mate, you need to chill out. Go jump in a refrigerator or something, jeez.
First off, it might be business, but that doesn't make it right. If the dlc is all well and done then why not include it on the disc in the first place? Any dlc that's been cut or purposely left out of the final game is a rip off as it should have been included in the first place, and no matter how much or little it costs why should you pay for it if if isn't? Oh, and if were "free" then you've just contradicted yourself seeing as you stated "it's a business". The problem is ironically the more people like yourself who believe this tripe publishers spoon feed us about dlc, the more they will do it and other dev houses and publishers will follow suit.
Wash your mouth out with some soap and get back to me when you know what you're talking about.
