Go hands-on with Sony's new handheld this September

The PlayStation Vita will be publicly available during the Tokyo Games Show in September.

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano said today the shiny new handheld will take centre stage at the show, which runs from September 15 to 19 in Tokyo.

His comments came on the newly launched PlayStation Vita Community Site, where he also said that questions of the "system's release date, launch line-up, 3G pricing and UMD issues" will be answered along with Tokyo Game Show details.

We've had a few conflicting reports regarding the PlayStation Vita release date, but most seem to agree on a launch a month or two either side of Christmas.

I want my US release date! I would think there would be some news sometime in August, if not, I'm not hopeful for a 2011 release...
