The UK's Official Xbox Magazine has awarded Deus Ex: Human Revolution a 10/10 review score.

As you'd expect, the look, control and characters in the game all come in for flawless praise.
The news comes after PC Gamer's world first review, which landed with subscribers yesterday.
The UK mag gave the game an extremely rare 94%.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next month.

I wonder how much the games developers had to pay to get that score.

Oh my! So far, this seems t be exceeding my expectations of te game. I am glad I pre-ordered the augmented edition of the game from Amazon. £35 is such a bargain.
woodins on 30 Jul '11 said:
Have the augmented on pre-order for the 360 when it comes out, but 10/10? Come on. I'm actually scurrying around my PS3 mates to see if they have a paper/torrent copy to read the PS3 review as it seems a bit more balanced. I dunno if the calls for reviewer corruption are justified, I'm more likely to believe that this game has got such a high score on the 360 due to the worst "summer drought" in gaming history lol.

looking on wiki,i see that OXM have awarded 14 games with 10/10
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_Xbox_Magazine
you decide if you think the games should of got 10/10
OXM US
Fight Night Round 3
Gears of War
Fallout 3
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Mass Effect
OXM UK
Grand Theft Auto IV
Project Gotham Racing 4
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Mass Effect 2
Halo: Reach
Portal 2.
and now Deus Ex Human Revolution
Bioshock was also awarded 10/10 from both
I don't understand why there are not more games that share 10/10 from both US and UK OXM,like Oblivion for example

Any game that gets below 8/10 is s**t. Any review that awards a 10/10 is corrupt and paid off.
It's sad that some people actually believe this.

Thats right, I only buy 9/10 games

This might sound totally crazy but I tend to get much more info and a feel of the game from the actual review than I do from the scores.

It scored 11 out of ten on the ps3 by the way

Oblivion my friend only deserves 10/10 when modded.
But 10/10 for games like, MW2(hahaha), Reach(campaign wasn't perfect), GTA4(sure the new engine was amazing but the game was boring, it was gray only free roam multiplayer was simply brilliant), Fight Night Round 3(haha again), Gears of War(again was off the moment we'd never see such amazing HD graphics or such bad ass singleplayer and copetitive multiplayer), Fallout 3(Bugs? Final Mission?), Halo 3(very good but again not perfect), Mass Effect(everyone knows parts of the game we're flawed but core game masterpeice)

Looking at the list above i'm quite surprised at the games they've chosen to give 10/10 but more surprised that there are so few. I think it's accepted that official magazines tend to be kinder to the big releases so I thought they would hand them out much more often. At the risk of stirring up the fanboys does anyone know what Official Playstation Magazing is like for handing out 10s?
rikkicm on 30 Jul '11 said:
Sounding good might have to get this when it comes out the trailers made it look good and think it may be worth getting so glad the reviews are great for it
DAEDALUS79 on 30 Jul '11 said:
If you look hard enough you can pick holes in anything, 10/10 doesnt have to be necessarily be genre defining, just a great game that stands out above the rest of the field like all those games above do (I personally agree with all those marks, for the games at the time). Personally I prefer a score out of 100 as it allows for the reviewer to be exact with their score.
Tom tom tom on 30 Jul '11 said:
I know there is quite the few exclusives there but oxm are unbiased when it comes to games. Most of those games deserve their 10's except mw2. Everyone can argue their points as too why they aren't perfect but No game Is perfect. Plus you have to enjoy games for what they are, gta wasn't meant to be crazy stupid fun but more serious. To perceive it otherwise and call it out for being boring is just stupid. It wasn't meant to be that.
aawells07 on 30 Jul '11 said:
Good deal ill def be picking this up. The game looks solid and be proly the only good game in August. I just wish it was more towards the begining of the month. I fully trust OXM and there reviews so no worries there.
Very_Silver_Ownz on 30 Jul '11 said:
Nope Ben is right on that one. IV is boring as hell. The episodes are good though.

Oblivion came out 5 years ago, when it was first released it was very easily a 10,even now i would be very surprised if it was re-reviewed and given anything less than a 9
GTA4 was brilliant, and still has the best looking gameplay city every created,i very much enjoyed the game but personally i would give it a 9/10...the f**king phone calls from your friends p**sed me right off to no end
Reach campaign was very boring, and i preferred Halo 3 multiplayer so i agree with you there
MW2-yeah gotta agree with you again,it was the start of the slippery slide, although i did enjoy the single player
Fallout 3- easily a 10 IMO,why what was wrong with the final mission?,it did something new you mean?(and it was changed for DLC anyway)...and can't say i had that many bugs in the game, and i have played through it 3 times with all the DLC,now if you meant F:NV for bugs,well...
Fight night=not played
Gears=i can see where they are coming from, but multiplayer was not for me
Mass Effect=loved it,but planet hopping in that damn Mako was annoying after a few planets

theblkwhsp on 30 Jul '11 said:
I think players were expecting much more from GTA IV considering it was a massive graphical leap forward but it was the same old missions and gameplay we've seen since GTA III. I love Rockstar for the most part but recently I've noticed their games all follow the same rags-to-riches storyline, have the same mini map and endless main and sideline A-B missions and anti-hero protagonist. It's got tired and old and lucky for them the games just about keep players interested but personally LA Noire was just one step too far into familiar territory and I'm afraid that GTA V will be the same.
With regards to Deus Ex getting a 10... BRING ON AUGUST 26th AND THE TWO WEEKS OFF I'VE BOOKED TO PLAY IT!!!

I have played every single GTA game including the PS1 versions. It is my favourite game series I think I know how to play them lol.
IV was overrated and that coming from a GTA fanboy. The annoying phone call ( no Roman I don't want to go bowing for the last time! ), crap storyline and removal of features from San Andreas.
I know Rockstar created a real achievement but it just wasn't very fun to actually play.
San Andreas and Vice City are way better.
gmcb007 on 30 Jul '11 said:
GTA was a bit more tame compared to the previous but I wouldn't say it was crap. I actually thought the car damage and handling is very realistic. The way I see it that IV was an experiment on the current gen for R*. I'm sure V will focus on fixing the major issues /criticism that they recieved with this installment.
Moorpheus on 30 Jul '11 said:
Awesome - my anticipation for this is huge - easily my most wanted game of the year, ahead of Skyrim even.
My only concern is that it's not as graphically strong as I'd like but that's so minor it barely warrants mentioning. Gameplay over graphics every time and it looks like DX:HR as this in spades.
Roll on August 26th!
Lady Gagagged on 30 Jul '11 said:
The car handling was crap, the removal of the RPG type stats was an ill conceived idea, the characters/storyline was a bit meh, the Ballad of Gay Tony showed they could still do it if they wanted to. But GTA IV is far from a terrible game. Compared to other entries in the series it is the worst one, but that doesn't equate to it being a bad game.

IV was great.
I'm with the "boring as hell crowd " I'm afraid. The game lacked the fun factor of vice city IMO . The driving was just montonous, as you had to drive carefully . Give me the insanity of driving cars in vice city any day.

I can understand if you wouldn't care about this point, but you know that IV was built from the ground up right? So it's IV that they will be building off of for the future. Which at this point they should be putting out games faster. Anyway, so they didn't really remove anything from SA. I'll say that yes, at some point I wasn't has happy as I thought I'd be playing that game. But I liken it to Weezer's green album. Amazingly disappointing at first... just what is this? I don't get what happened? But a few years later, and for me with IV about a year later and a second play through, I still marvel at every little detail of that world. As for the green album I just like how tight and fake and weird it is (you can do that with music though).
The detail of Liberty City to me is second to none, and the gameplay was amazing as well. There's always room for improvements, but pop in SA, then pop in IV. It's so night and day as far as playability. All that said, SA is probably my favorite game of all time. Everything about that game at that time was perfect. Sorry to rant.

PGR2 was pretty good, they had more time to work on that one as the original was rushed a little to be a launch title... same can be said for 3
TheLastDodo on 31 Jul '11 said:
I'm another in the "GTA IV is crap/overrated" camp. I've bought it twice and come to the same conclusion both times.
Great dialogue, characters, soundtrack and Liberty City is an amazing technical achievement but I found the missions boring, the cars were a hassle to drive and the combat was far too clunky.
OT: Does anyone ever trust a review that gives 10/10?
humanhand on 31 Jul '11 said:
I don't fully trust it because the style of game might not be my bag. But I'm very interested for sure.

hmm not sure i totally agree with C&VG giving out review scores for magazine reviews when the subscribers aint even received em yet!! bet some of em are not a happy bunch!
kirankara on 31 Jul '11 said:
Nah my instant reaction to a 10/10, is ok it's overrated , overhyped game time, and have to make sure I read more reviews to see what games like. I'm more likely to buy an 8/10 game based on a single review than a 10/10 , as I just think bs, and how much were they paid.

will you stop posting review scores from a magazine that i havent had delivered yet, really p**sing me off CVG.

I already have. I have San Andreas for the 360 and the GTA IV collection for PS3 and still think like you SA is still the best one easily.
IV had great graphics, great acting and sound but I get bored after literally 5 mins of starting it up.
San Andreas on the other hand I can start it up which I already have and restarted playing on the 360 and can play for hours without getting bored. The amount of stuff you can do in SA is insane. Sure the graphics aren't that great but it is decent for a game that big and the stuff you can do.
Only good thing about IV is graphics and by the time GTA V comes out that won't be an advantage anymore.

Silver, are you using the original Xbox disc to play SA or did you buy the digital Xbox original version? I'm asking because the downloaded version loves to stop working every 20 minutes and displays a dirty disc message an i'm trying to work out is it a problem with the file and not the actual Xbox.
Very_Silver_Ownz on 31 Jul '11 said:
I'm using the digital version. That sounds strange. Try deleting the game from the Xbox then redownload it and should work.
gmcb007 on 31 Jul '11 said:
I have a couple of times due to the fact I used to be limited to 20GB and I updated to a slim model. It used to work perfectly, I think it's something to do with the actual download file. Ahh, i'll give it another download and hope for the best.

Yeah try it again. You could try deleting the cache from your HDD then download SA but I think if you do this you'll have to redownload all patches for all of your games again. I'm not really surebecause it hasn't happened to me so its up to you.
Hope you fix it.

Well, my shopto.net pre-order arrived yesterday (which was brilliant) so I've put in a few hours so far. My initial reaction is that some of the load times seem a bit on the slow side (I have it installed on the 360 btw), but not so much to be game breaking. The soundtrack is AMAZING - so glad I got the augmented addition, the graphics are good, not great, but certainly won't catch me complaining, and from what I've played so far, I frikkin' LOVE it.
Only slight criticism would be controls are a *little* odd - LT to hug cover, click right stick to look down sights (toggle). But meh, extremely minor.
