Twisted Metal delayed to 2012

"Some extra time, polish, and love" still needs to be applied

PS3 exclusive Twisted Metal has been delayed from its previously targeted October 4 release until "early 2012" to allow for extra polishing, Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe said today.

Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Jaffe said: "A lot of dedicated, supportive, passionate Twisted Metal fans have been waiting for the return of Calypso's demented contest for a long time but the truth is: we're just not ready yet.

"It sucks bad when games miss their announced launch dates. We're gamers too and we know how annoying it is. It's disappointing and frustrating and it really takes the wind out of your sails if you're a fan that has been looking forward to playing a title for a long time.

"Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that - with this extra time for tuning and polish - the game is going to be so much better than it already is... There's a great, classic industry saying by legendary Nintendo designer - and personal hero - Shigeru Miyamoto that goes a little something like this: 'A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time.

"We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made... Most importantly, we plan on treating you - the kind folks who play our game (and pay our bills) - like the VIPs that you are. You only deserve our best and we appreciate your understanding as we take a little more time to guarantee that our best is what we deliver."

Not a bad thing imho, El Maggio.
So many games this year with so little time.

Excellent news this means the game should be perfect when released and it gives us something to play in the first part of next year and it wont be buried under all the other games coming out soon.

It'll end up being out in March I reckon. That seems to be the go to month for christmas slips.

This game would be crushed between the big titles this fall and christmas. Good move.

On first read of this article i thought...BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then on second thought my reaction was: Great, make my favourite game series the best you possibly can.

In summary, i dont care when this game comes out, as long as i get to play it in my lifetime and that it is as perfect as they possibly make it.

Good call. Everyone should delay games for a while, just so devs start realising how important a few months of polish can be. Way too many rushed, and even a few bumped forwards disasters over the last year.

Could it be that commen sense is prevailing Gmcb007? A few publishers might be taking a look at the release schedule and have had second thoughts about their games chances with the big hitters.

THQ should look at this and do the same with Saints Row 3.

It doesn't stand a chance against Modern Warfare 3, Assassins Creed Revelations and Skyrim.

If they decide to stick with the current date then we might be able to pick up a few bargains in the january sales .
