Following the decision to delay PS3 exclusive Twisted Metal from its previously targeted October 4 release until "early 2012", David Jaffe has said gamers deserve to get the best value for their cash.

"Also hitting smack dab in mid Nov/Mid Dec is a bad time to release this game (although that was not the reason we delayed AT ALL...we WANTED to be out in Oct)...but the extra time gives us more time to balance weapons, tune vehicle handling, tune the EXP progression for levelling up, etc."
Last week, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim director Todd Howard said games are too expensive and the industry would benefit from lower price points.

I've barely played a handful of games from this generation that I believe are worth that amount, or even 40, in terms of gameplay/fun. Make a game that isn't outdated within a year, has enough longevity (not including multiplayer), has enough replayability (again not using multiplayer as an excuse), and most importantly, make it fun without getting repetitive after an hour, and you'd have people quite a few coming in even more droves willing to pay the pricetag than the mindless people who actually buy annual updates for £60 a go.

I've no problem spending £40 on a game, but I've probably only done it for 1-2 games this year.
I don't factor in multiplayer as a reason to buy a game unless it's the main focus of that particular game (LBP, CoD, BF). Multiplayer is too often just shoe horned into games to please the headshot loving Little Jimmy's this generation has catered towards.
Replayability isn't an important factor for me, if theres something worth unlocking with a second playthrough then I'll do it but I often play story based games only once, not a fan of achievement hunting.

Only if you're poor.

I don't know - we are by no means poor, but there's not a lot left after mortgage, utility bills, food, running costs for two cars, etc... Can't remember the last time I bought a new game...

Not when the developer isn't recieving bundles of cash from Sony to keep em exclusive. The same applies to Microsoft. They have to make a decent profit or they'd go bust.

"$60 is a hell of a lot to ask for games"
Yeah especially for crap games.
I've never had a problem with the price for any game myself though. After all, what do I work for?

??
Sony own santa monica. I am confused by your post.

Well it's all right for Jaffe to say it's too expensive, but Sony pays him a boat load of cash for exclusitivity so he's pretty secure for a job. Other developers have to try and make a profit from their game and if they charged any lower then they would be wasting their time.
Fr33Kye on 8 Aug '11 said:
Well no not really. They dont pay him for exclusivity. They work for sony. EDIT They are owned by sony. Epic get paid for exclusivity. Santa monica are first party. They have access to a lot of resources so if anything it might be smart of smaller developers to charge less. No one really wants to lower their price it seems.
gmcb007 on 8 Aug '11 said:
Fair enough, I thought they were first party as well.

Sorry. Edited my post. Santa monica are first party. Epic are third and get paid for exclusivity.

Jaffe runs the company Eat Sleep Play, which is the studio working on this game not Santa Monica, Sony doesn't actually have Eat Sleep as an internal studio....for some reason. If I remember rightly though they have a 3 game exclusivity deal with Sony.

Oh i'm sorry i thought santa monica was working on this one. My mistake!

Santa Monica are helping with Twisted Metal, Starhawk and Journey. Once TM and Journey are out the door they can get to work on God of War 4 hopefully.

God of War 4 is apparently in development, it was "confirmed" on the mexican Playstation facebook page.
