'Flame Red' 3DS launching with price cut

Nintendo handheld will be "on fire for the holidays"

Nintendo's to release the Flame Red 3DS in the States just two days before the handheld receives a major price cut.

Having already been released in Japan, the new colour is will arrive in the US on September 9.

"Nintendo 3DS is poised to be on fire for the holidays, with its new suggested retail price, great games and our new Flame Red colour," said US president Reggie Fils-Aime.

"With major upcoming releases in the Star Fox, Pokémon and Mario series, in addition to downloadable offerings from Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Video and Netflix, the system offers new and fun experiences to owners on a daily basis."

There's no word on whether the new colour will be arriving alongside the 3DS price cut in the EU.

    We can get freaking Yoshi's Island FOR FREE! And those that buy it can't have one at all unless Nintendo say they will release VC CBA games :wink:

    And thats not counting the rest of our treasures. Nintendo is being more generous than Sony and it is over something I would consider nowhere near as bad. An early price drop is one thing. Scoundrels hacking a server and stealing everyone's personal details? That is low!
