Rockstar's mysterious 'Citizen Skywatch' site suggests reveal

GamesCom set for GTA dev surprise?

Take-Two and Rockstar are both linked to a new, mysterious website carrying nothing but the words "Citizen Skywatch".

The font and theme of the phrase itself has most people speculating that the site (along with a linked Twitter and YouTube account) will host some sort of XCOM or BioShock Infinite presence at Gamescom this week.

However, the whois log for CitizenSkywatch.com also drags Rockstar into the mix with the GTA developer cropping up in a server name:

Domain Name: CITIZENSKYWATCH.COM

Registrar: NETWORK SOLUTIONS, LLC.

Whois Server: whois.networksolutions.com

Referral URL: http://www.networksolutions.com

Name Server: NS.TAKE2GAMES.COM

Name Server: NS5.TAKE2GAMES.COM

Name Server: NS6.ROCKSTARGAMES.COM

Status: clientTransferProhibited

Updated Date: 12-aug-2011

Creation Date: 26-apr-2011

Expiration Date: 26-apr-2016

You'll notice that the site was last updated only a few days ago meaning it's reasonable to assume that whatever it's linked to will crop up this week at GamesCom in Germany.

Of course, just because Rockstar's name pops up on a server title doesn't mean that Citizen Skywatch is anything to do with, oh we don't know, GTA V but we've certainly got our fingers crossed for a gob-smacking Rockstar surprise this week.

Why the hell does everyone think that it has something to do with Rockstar Games? Look at the whois-data on BioshockInfinite.com (http://whois.domaintools.com/bioshockinfinite.com) or XCOM.com (http://whois.domaintools.com/xcom.com). The same line about Rockstar, but it doesn't mean that the company is involved in any of those projects.

Skywatch sounds like something spy related to me, perhaps it's for Agent?

It's a game set in the distant future.

Looters have left the world in ruins (except Nottingham. They caused millions worth of improvements there) and every major city is run by a hoody named Big Steve. They travel around in blinged out Ford Escorts looking for people to put in televised fights to the death in the Millennium Dome, which is run by Tina Turner.

Only one man is strong, smelly, bored and hates Tina Turner enough put a stop to the madness and try and bring peace to the world.... Bill Oddie.

Skywatch is a system for tracking aircraft safety in the book World War Z. With a movie being made, maybe it is a tie in game?

Said movie is being filmed in Glasgow City centre as we speak! Trying to get passed all the zombies to get into the office was certainly pretty tricky :D !

On Topic, cant see GTA getting announced at any Expo (which is a shame!), but R* normally give GTA the standalone announcement experience that it richly deserves!!

Yeah, I cant really remember any GTA being announced exclusively at a convention before. They're is usually a massive media blitz instead. Rockstar dont really do conventions well as other developers do. Their skills are in media blitzing and internet campaigns.
