Gears of War 3 to support stereoscopic 3D

Epic bolsters list of Xbox 360 compatible titles

Gears of War 3 is set to feature a stereoscopic 3D mode on Xbox 360, Epic Games announced at a London press event.

The shooter's 3D option will be the first from the Unreal Engine developer, joining a handful of 3D titles available for Microsoft's box including Crysis 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The Unreal Engine itself has of course long supported the third dimension, with Epic VP Mark Rein commenting early last year:

"If you haven't seen Unreal Engine 3 in 3D, you won't believe how realistic it is! We're excited to offer this technology for free to our licensees and can't wait to see what people create with it."

It's out on September 20. The latest Gears 3 gameplay trailer showed off Horde 2.0. Have a look.
