Secret Ubisoft shooter uncovered?

'Project Osborn' features terrorist attacks on American soil

Ubisoft is working on a new squad-based shooter codenamed 'Project Osborn'.

That's according to "sources" close to Siliconera, which gives a run-down of a premise that sees players attempt to tackle a US citizen turned terrorist.

John Washington is a descendent of George (you know, the old president) a stern patriot and a soldier in Afghanistan. That is until the US military turns on him for some reason.

"While his unit was killed," Silconera reports, "Washington survived and started the Minutemen to save America... from itself.

"Washington believes the nation has lost its way and wants to rebuild the country in the image of its forefathers - Washington's ancestors.

"Using his knowledge of guerilla warfare tactics, Washington created a number of terror cells. Ubisoft describes him as a 'modern day William Wallace.'"

Players reportedly take a role in Osborn, a group lead by a Navy Seal assigned to stop Washington. The squad-shooter is also said to have stealth elements as missions unfold on American soil.

"One mission takes place on the Brooklyn Bridge where Osborn ambushes the Minutemen," Siliconera continues. "In this area you meet a proxy bomber whose family has been taken by Washington. Osborn sends in a squad to diffuse the bomb, but fail to do so in time. The leader of the group apologizes to the condemned man, but doesn't know what to do. At this point, a prompt comes up for the player to push the man off the bridge."

Sounds like a weighty scene but, while the account is detailed, it all has to be taken with a pinch of seasoning at the moment.

Isn't that from the leaked Rainbow Six? Hell I think this whole article is the plot setting for Rainbow Six!

Sounds like any other shooter honestly, wants to make you think it's doing something new or different but in the end it's all about saving America from the "bad guys".

You can just picture the screenshots of a half destroyed New York now can't you?

    /takes off cynical hat.

If you want to do something different Ubisoft then let us play as the Minutemen, not Osborn.

Sounds generic and boring. Not interested in yet another generic boring shooter.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Something like this was described in the leaked Rainbow Six details.
