GC 2011: Halo: CE Anniversary - Damnation video

A guided tour through a classic map

Seeing classic Halo maps given a fresh coat of paint in the Halo Reach engine is one of the most exciting things about the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary remake.

From the looks of the video below, 343 Industries isn't going to disappoint. The movie features a tour of the map Damnation, which is being played in the Slayer deathmatch mode.

Multiplayer in the Combat Evolved remake will be based on the Halo: Reach experience, so abilities such as the jetpack and sprint will be available in the classic maps.

Microsoft said this month that the Combat Evolved remake's Kinect features are 'not hyper-exciting' and " not something you'd put on the front of the box".

This is nice for people who haven' t played the original on xbox 1, reach engine overhaul and live matchmaking make this quite an interesting purchase, but I already have Halo 1 so might pass on this.

Does the whole game use the Reach engine, or only the multiplayer side of it?

The whole game is being re-done with reach graphical loveliness but you can flit between the original games graphics at any point if you want to.

both use the reach engine but with the campaign you can switch back to the original engine at anytime

I don't think that's true actually. In single player it's the original code being used - so the original engine - but with a new graphical overlay coded 'on top of it'. The multiplayer is definitely the Reach engine

Given that the PC version had a flamethrower on it (originally intended for the XBOX version but cut before release due to unnown reasons), and that this is a new map, do you think that it will make an appearance on the Reach remake?
