I think I need to change my pants after watching this.
I've been trying to decide whether to go for the PC or 360 version. The PC version will have 64 players and, of course, much better graphics, but, I prefer playing shooters with a gamepad, and my current pc might only run it on minimum detail, if at all.
After watching this trailer, I'm no longer trying to decide. I'm buying a new CPU, Motherboard, RAM and GPU for this. I might just sell every game and console I own to help fund it. Once BF3 is released, I may never play another game again. ;)

I really hope the game supports my Saitek X-52 and TrackIR.

If that doesn't generate extreme hype levels I don't know what will.

As a person who rarely jumps into multiplayer, this is a must.

Pardon my ignorance, but are the consoles versions going to have the all of these jets and all this other stuff?

The console versions are obviously getting the smaller maps with less players but can we still jump in a jet and do all the other cool stuff?

In saying that, the PC version does look rather splendid!!

Yes Stonecold the consoles will have jets. I hope anyway. If a downloadable title like BF1943 has jets then BF3 should.

Yeah, EA have said that the console version will feature jets, and that the map boundaries for jets will be larger than for ground units.

It was like I was watching a video for Battlefield 2!!!! Oh well i guess they had to return to the winning old school gameplay sometime, maybe that's why this is called 'Battlefield 3'?. And you get extreme ends, you have COD closed maps and BF open maps. So you could happily IMO have BOTH games.
Hell I remember in BF 2 climbing tower cranes and trying to snipe people in one map.

Sony's conference is live on PS Home from 6 if anyones interested, lots of Vita talk has been promised :D 8)

Jets will be present within the console versions of BF3, what is going to happen is that the maps will be the same size, just restricted to foot soldiers, as soon as you step into the jet the entire map will be open for flight.

Looks awesome and pretty fast paced (could be the vid), love the bit with the bomb robot! So these jets and choppers and stuff are they like kill streak rewards or do you pick them from the start of a round as with the tanks and stuff?

You'll get the vehicles at the start.

The jets are also limited to Conquest only... not Rush. That may be for the consoles only but I can't remember.

No it won't have half as many jet's, choppers, tanks, hummers and quads. I have seen 4 jet's in 64 player so there will be likey one jet per side in 24 player. So expect 11 other players trying to team kill you as you run for the jet, get in and pilot it into the ground shortly after takeoff.

Going on my past experience with choppers in BF I would wager It will be about 100 attempts before I get a jet to go in a straight line!

BF series does require skill to fly the aircraft. Would be nice if they added training missions in the single player part of the game so you could practice flying.

Its a pity it wont actually play like that on the consoles ... May have to consider getting it on both

Now this is more like it! Cant wait.

Yeah I was banned by my mates from flying the transport choppers in BF2 as 50% of the time I ended up crashing and killing everyone onboard

Well since it's a video game, you can just practice in good old regular multiplayer, or in a campaign mission which there most definitely will be a mission featuring jet combat, it would be stupid otherwise.

A few friends and I reckon training missions for jets and choppers should be optional, but only completing them gives you the ability to fly in MP. It would force people to learn how to fly, or if they actually can't grasp it at all, they don't ruin the Air support for the entire team.
Of course make it optional on the servers too, whether to restrict Aircraft to pilots, so even the rejects can find games where they can attempt to fly and fail. That also covers my ass from all the people who will whine here.

Looks lovely but sadly no PC version for me as I only have a laptop so 360 version will have to do. :(

This is soo gonna rock on PC's, also CommoRose has been confirmed as back( PC only of course ) as are claymores :)

Command rose was great, especially using it to ask your squad leader for a UAV or airstrike, and then he forwards the request to the commander and then he deploys one for you so you can capture a flag!

The squad system in 2142 was great, especially with the upgrades and squad points (if you did so much teamwork you got a temporary unlock to try out a new piece of kit) and the Squad leader being able to deploy spawn beacons for you to spawn in enemy territory or having a litte flying drone next to him to help out.

I really wish I had a PC for this, my 360 will have to do :(

This will be what console owners can hopefully expect on next gen machines, full 1080p, 64 player battles.

I know MAG has 256 player, but that can get really insane and laggy on PS3.
