Sony's keeping the Gamescom media flowing, and we've got a new gameplay trailer for the slick-looking WipEout 2048 headed for Vita.

Sony officially announced WipEout 2048 for Vita at E3 earlier this year, complete with various control methods, slick PS3-quality visuals, new tracks and weapons and most excitingly cross-platform multiplayer functionality with PS3 game WipEout HD Fury.

We've now also got new screenshots.

Damn that looks good. Hopefully it'll have a custom music option like it's PS3 cousin.

This is the first Wipeout I've seen that doesn't really look like Wipeout. Sure, you've got hover ships and a suspended track, but the lack of The Designers Republic involvement is very very clear. It really does look more like a Wipeout clone than Wipeout.
Gameplay is what's important though, right?

haha, I just love how everyone rapes the You Tube videos uploaded by others! Great game this one I think, and it shows the graphics that to me look like an in-between Nvidia and AMD but leaning more towards Nvidia style.

I'm only 2 years old so I forbade myself from watching the trailer.

Looks cool, I like the more contemporary urban look. Presumably this is meant to be a prequel to the rest of the series, hence the cities that look more like they do today.

What the hell is going to happen in 37 years for us to be racing land-speeders, vertically climbing walls and using plasma type weapons?

Looks like good hand held fodder. Games like this work nicely on portables, like Ridge Racer, etc. As much as I love Uncharted, and I really do love Uncharted, I would peg this as better portable fodder than a game that demands you follow a narrative. Who knows when you'll get to pick it up again? Ancient 29 year olds like me might forget the plot. Or lose it all together.

    Wibble.
