The PC version of Modern Warfare 3 will support dedicated servers.
Activision announced the news at GamesCom today, according to IGN, finally putting to rest months of speculation.
The move's been made to show the publisher's still dedicated to the platform - and to avoid the uproar over the decision not to offer dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2. Last year's Call of Duty entry, Black Ops, did allow them.
Activision has also reportedly expressed concern about cheating on PC, given the open nature of the platform and the company's plans to give away millions of pounds in prizes as part of official contests run through Call of Duty Elite. However, it says it's actively working on solutions and won't release the game without ensuring everyone gets to enjoy a fair fight.
