Crashes, explosions, rockets and tornadoes

There's all sorts of madness going on in this new trailer for Burnout Crash.

The download title is a spin-off of the series, ditching the 'racing' part and instead focusing on some top-down arcade crash action. As you'll see, your sole purpose is to cause an absolute disaster.

The idea sounds like fun, but looking at this trailer - we'll be honest with you - we're not so sure.

The arcade, cartoon crash-a-thon was recently confirmed for release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this month.

All that does it makes me realise how much I want a proper Burnout game where I can go crazy-fast, do dozens of spectacular slow-mo takedowns, and crash into a junction the most over the top, visually-splendid way possible. This doesn't appear to be any of those things.

Wasn't there a mode in Burnout Revenge that let you do just that? Definitely in one of the burnout games anyway, pretty much just like this game without the top-down view where you could just smashed into other cars etc at a junction to see how much destruction could be caused.

This will more then likely be 1200mps and for that amount you purchase burnout takedown from the games on demand section! And it's still an awesome game I've been playing crash party with some friends and it still a great multi-player experience.

Yeah, I seem to remember playing the Crash mode on a Burnout on PS2 (possibly Burnout 2?) and friggin' lovin' it! It was a seriously awesome party-mode and me and some friends spent hours on the various levels. Sometimes you'd go for a massive smash through a crowded intersection...and miss EVERY SINGLE CAR!

But have to admit this looks absolute cack! From that trailer I wouldn't even bother playing if this was free. What's with the sunday afternoon traffic? Seriously, there was one car to smash into at that junction and then what? Wait for some more suicidal traffic to drive straight into you? Lame.
