Fable 4 arriving in 2013?

OXM rumours also point to Duke Nukem Begins

Lionhead is busy working on Fable 4 for release in 2013, according to the rumour section in the latest issue of the US Official Xbox Magazine.

Looking into its crystal ball, the mag's October 2011 issue says: "Look for the Fable cycle to continue with a proper, controller-based Fable IV in 2013."

OXM also suggests Gearbox is to reboot Duke Nukem "with the long-discussed Duke Begins, but not until Aliens: Colonial Marines is done", and that id Software's next Doom game will run "at 30fps but with graphics that put id's own Rage to shame".

Lionhead is currently at work on Kinect title Fable: The Journey, which will be accessible to newcomers but offer veterans a challenge too, according to studio head Peter Molyneux.

Correction, Fable: On Rails killed the franchise for me.

They have completely said a big "FU" to its dedicated fanbase, in order to pursue with Microsofts demands of "All first partys must have Kinect in them by -x- year".
I don't even mind that they have had to put kinect in it, just HOW they've done it has to be the most stupid way ever, and the game itself doesnt even feel like a game, merely a shell without substance.

Why couldn't they of just made the minigames within the game (such as blacksmith) kinect activated? match the rythm of the hammer swings and you get a perfectly crafted weapon or something. Rather then been on a rail for the entire game.

Maybe IF Fable 4 arrives in 2013, ill take a look at it again, but this -- what they are doing now, can go take a swandive down niagara falls for all I care. Fable is usually the first game I preorder within its year, this.. no chance.

Id say if its Gearbox doing a DN game i dunno i didnt have time to read the article but im sure they wanna redeem themselves (although the last one wasnt done entirely by them) some and make a good game. As far as Fable 4 goes ill hold judgement until i see it but i do agree that the Kinect Fable is a major put off i almost think thats why we are already hearing about F4 because i think they know they are gonna catch alot of flack about this game.

I do hope that the fans completely sidestep this title, give a big warning to Lionhead really. Thats what it needs.

It's been stated in big letters by all of the staff at lionhead that the new Fable game for kinect will NOT BE ON RAILS!

I'm quite looking forward to it and will not be side stepping it as it looks like they're going back to revist a lot of promising gameplay mechanics that they used in Balck and White and other titles that would be a really good fit for kinect.

As far as the rumours go all of them sound likely and are not anything that would surprise me at all. Doom is a flagship series. Ms are going to need something other than Halo 4 to be released in 2013 and Duke Nukem getting another game was pretty much the reason gearbox bought the rights to the series in the first place. I like tha they're keeping with the batman theme in the ttle too.

I hope lionhead spend more time careating the feel of fabe 1 rather than the sequals. Less stupid interactions more meaningful player choices that are not clear cut evil vs good.

Although Fable 3 was not the best of the games (well, it was the worst of the 3..) I did still enjoy it and will be looking forward to Fable 4. Will be giving the Kinect version a miss though.

As for the Duke Nukem rumour, Gearbox had already said that they were going to be doing more Duke after DNF, which would let them build it the way they want it rather than having to finish a game someone else started.

For Doom4, that's just a given - it's not so much a rumour as taking something that John Carmack has said (he's said it again in an interview in Gamasutra that's recently published), that single player in Doom4 would be 30fps (60fps for multiplayer). Having twice as long to render a frame obviously means that they'll be rendering more on screen - it's not like id aren't going to push things!

Loved the Fable series so far, but i think I'll skip the upcoming Kinect game and wait for this (if true) instead. What I've seen/heard of The Journey doesn't interest me at the moment, so I'll stick with the core series.

I don't care anymore. I kept my 360 because I was waiting for fable 3, I've never been so disappointed.

Here's why; a lack of side missions, game breaking bugs, no skill required, and most of all the pointless decisions that you had to make as king / queen. How is the 6 million gold put to use in saving lives? Why do I care what the world looks like after my decisions have been made if there's no game to play there any more? What did my character do in the 3 months that suddenly disappeared between making my last decision and the endgame? Also, since I'm ranting, why are 4 out of 5 enemies skeletons? What the hell happened to being able to choose your own expression?

No. No more. Like all of Molyneuxs ideas, they start out with such great possibilities and wonder but end with badly implemented mechanics, dumbed down gameplay, and disappointment. I've learned my lesson.

never again, Fable 3 was the most bug ridden game i have ever played, i won't waste another penny on a Peter Molyneux, the only thing that comes out of his mouth are lies !

The only bug I encountered in fable 3 was the lack of an achievement being unlocked in the dlc. My main issue with the game was that it was p!ss easy. I enjoyed it while it lasted though. Since lion head stated it wouldn't be on rails I've decided not to write off fable: the journey just yet. The gameplay vids haven't bend great so far so I'm taking the wait and see approach.

I don't think I'll be bothering with Fable 4. Fable 3 was such a disappointment for me. It was riddled with bugs, the co-op never worked for me (wouldn't connect and if it did, the other player either ended the session or I got disconnected) and it was a lot shorter than I would've been comfortable with, with very little replay-ability in my opinion. I could care less about the Kinect Fable coming out; I don't have a kinect and don't plan on getting one.

I actually really enjoyed Fable 3. It wasn't as good as 2, but it was still great fun. It was a blast, it was pretty, and amusing as ever. They tried some new stuff, some worked, some didn't, that's the way ii goes. I'm looking forward to Fable 4.

The fable series is on a slow decline the original remains the best game in the series mass effect has also adopted this curse its all about mainstreaming and acessibility trying to make games appeal to a wider audience, a dumb audience its happening with everything and its getting on my nerves.

I agree with alot of you all that his games have been rolling down hill especially since the first part of the problem is i think he went to far ahead of the time lines in fable about 500 years that would be a real good game i think on how the hero's guild had ended...but i still enjoy the fable series and i'm also maybe giving that kinect thing a shot more out of loyalty than anything else, cause i still believe that he can pull something great, and by looking that the fable journey it kinda make things interesting were you have to do hand motions to weave spells or to shoot and swing your sword...all i'm saying keep an open mind about it and he may just surprise us.
