GC 2011: GamesCom sees record attendance

A record 275,000 people visited GamesCom in Cologne, Germany last week, underlining its status "as the world's largest trade fair for interactive entertainment", according to organiser Koelnmesse.

Running from August 15-17, the event hosted 557 exhibitors from 39 countries showing off more than 300 games, and was attended by more than 5,000 media representatives from over 50 nations.

Koelnmesse also confirmed the return of the event to Cologne in 2012, from August 15-19.

Last week, an "expert jury of national and international media, press, and trade representatives" named Battlefield 3 'Best of Gamescom' at the show's annual awards ceremony.
