A new trailer for the Vita version of Virtua Tennis 4 shows off the unique ways it uses the handheld's many hardware features.

"Virtua Tennis 4's core experience is nearly identical to its recently-released PS3 counterpart; you can create a character, start a career, and participate in tournaments while enhancing your skills through all kinds of bizarre tennis-related skill tests," says Sony, before describing some of the new mechanics.

The touch-screen controls sound interesting. "Tap on the screen and your player will run to that spot. Once in place, you swipe in the direction you want to hit the ball, utilizing different gestures for topspin shots, lobs, backhands and more. Multitouch is employed to launch a lethal power shot - just swipe using two fingers to add an exclamation mark to a long volley," it explains, noting that the traditional analogue stick and button controls still remain, and you can use a combination of both.

The game also has a top-down Touch Vs mode, which has you lay the console down flat and lets two players face each other on a single screen using touch controls.

There's more, but we'll let you check them out in the trailer below.

I was actually impressed by how much they adapted virtua tennis 4 to the vita. I like the touch screen multiplayer. This is the first i'm seeing of that first person gameplay, it looks pretty sweet actually.
