Dead Island publisher Deep Silver has promised to deliver "make up content" as compensation to those affected by the PC Steam blunder that saw a severely broken development version of the game go on sale.
Those who bought the zombie survival horror on its first day on sale in US were greeted with what appeared to be a development version of the game heavily plagued with bugs and glitches. Deep Silver apologised for delivering the 'incorrect version' of the game.
In a new statement today, the publisher says the correct and working version is now available to download, and promises a 'make up' is on the way. "Deep Silver plans to announce a 'make up' to North American fans who were affected by the day 1 PC issues, stay tuned in coming days for those details as internal discussions are ongoing on our end," it said.
It also confirmed the promised patch that fixes a large number of issues has released, the list of changes for which differs from that reported previously. The full official list is below, although Deep Silver warns of compatibility issues that may force you to restart your quest.
"We have a solution to help regain some quest progress: When the game opens, select New Game -> Select the same character as you were using before, and then there will be an option for 'Chapter Select' which will allow the player to jump to the last chapter they were playing in," it said.
