PES 2012 demo lands on 360

Second demo to hit PSN and PC

Konami's released a PES 2012 demo on PS3, PC and, for the first time, Xbox 360.

With EA Sports launching its FIFA 12 demo on 360 yesterday and PSN today, Konami's contender for this year's footie-sim title is now going head-to-head with the reigning champ across all platforms.

While PS3 and PC players experienced one PES 2012 demo last month, the first 360 demo had to be scrapped due to "issues" at both Konami and Microsoft.

The new PES 2012 demo lets players take to the pitch for a full ten minute match and experience the Challenge Training mode, which will help them master the basic and new controls of the game.

Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Inter, Rangers, Club America and Sport Club Internacional make up the list of playable teams.

Konami says it's "the stunning Active AI and off-the-ball control that elevates PES 2012 as the most realistic football simulation available".

It's good, but I'll be sticking with FIFA again this year. Still more fluid and I do like the new defensive play. Konami are back in the race though.

Have played both demos and I have to say that PES is looking brilliant this year- a real return to form. Whether you prefer FIFA or PES is personal choice, but I think PES will be getting my vote. It's crisper and more fun to play- you don't have to thread it through the eye of a needle to score.

Just played the PES demo, way better than fifa this year in my opinion, everything seems so much more fluid, the players feel more realistic and move better, ball physics are ace, passing is crisp and the graphics I think are better too

If Konami made an effort with new animations firstly, then i'd give PES a vote of confidence. They are slowly improving now but still exactly that, slowly!

EA are taking a gamble with Fifa this year (with the new tactical defending mechanics) hard to get to grips with. Also hard to resist the homing missle style of play. Given time, it should work out fine.

I'll be giving the 2nd PES demo a go tomorrow but until then, i'll be sticking with Fifa.

PES is definitely better than FIFA this year.

As an original pro evo player on ps2 I switched to fifa when 09 came out.Been with fifa until now, tried both demos and fifa is very sim like this year, whereas pro evo is pure fun hopefully with the depth that it used to have.I will be picking up pro evo this year my mates will not be happy lol.

I've given both Fifa and Pes about 2 hours each and im impressed with both tbh.

FIFA 12 new defending will need a bit of getting used to but when you crack it, it makes each tackle feel more just as important where ever you are on the pitch. It shows that EA are looking at, not just the attacking aspects and shooting, but also that Football is also about defending. It puts more emphasis on positioning and jockying, making sure the opposition dont get a cross in or counter attack.

The shooting on FIFA is greatly improved and with it on semi assisted, or even Manual the shooting will feel more dynamic and you have more control on where the ball is going although it is more difficult. No two goals are the same anymore on FIFA and the shot selection is fantastic. The physics are great, especially the players when controlling the ball, or even when the pass is bad and they are struggling to control the ball, its looking more and more realistic. Dribbling is better and if you know how and when to do the skill moves, again, it adds to the game and makes the chances you create and score more fulfilling and entertaining. The forward movement of players could do with some work and I sometimes wonder if I actually have any options.

PES is improving year on year, but it seems to me still very robotic and abit last gen when looking at the player mechanics. Every dribble, pass, shot and control looks laboured and hard work and shows little technique what you see in real life. They still run like they've just sat on a spike and when they collide it just looks silly. Regardless of this I think just like the defending in FIFA needs a little practice, so does PES' second player control but again looks good when pulled off and you score from out of nothing. It's fast paced, fluid and fast, regardless of the silly mechanics and Konami looks like they are not taking themselves too seriously this year, unlike last year when they tried to turn Pro Evo into more of a sim.

Some of the goals I've scored on PES defy physics. E.g, when I played the ball over the top and the ball is moving away from the player, near the corner of the box and as it bounced, hit it across goal with no change in body position into the far corner with his weak foot. In a way its typical PES and I like that. The less serious approach is what makes this game completely different from FIFA and there is no reason why you can't enjoy both games.

FIFA is like Battlefield, where it goes for more realism and a more dynamic style of play. PES is a bit like COD. It doesnt take itself too seriously, it's fast paced, fluid and actually fun to play.

I still think Pro evo is behind FIFA this year and it's a game I will be sticking with. Next year though i'm really looking forward to how PES gets developed from this years instalment and I'll hopefully be in a postion where I can fully enjoy both games equally again.
