Team Ninja's shown off Dead or Alive 5 for the first time at Tokyo Game Show this morning.
Studio head Yosuke Hayashi offered "a glimpse in the future" of the beat-em-up franchise during at behind-closed-doors Tecmo event, where he confirmed the new instalment will release in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
In a teaser trailer of a pre-Alpha build of the new DOA game, Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa faced off against DOA veteran Hayate on top of a brightly lit urban area, reports Joystiq.
Hayashi teased "dramatic new levels", and even went as far as calling the game "fighting entertainment," rather than "just a fighting game."
The last DOA instalment was released over five years ago in the Xbox 360 "launch window" in January 2006.
