The cat has finally clawed its way out of the bag and earlier this week EA's long-rumoured Syndicate remake was finally made official.
Now, thanks thanks to the fine folks at PSM3 and their world exclusive cover feature in issue 145 of the magazine, we've got the first details on the revival.
As you've probably read by now the game is being developed by Starbreeze, the studio behind The Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness - and is billed as "a story-driven, FPS reimagining" of the PC classic.
Syndicate will take place in the year 2069 and, like the original, draws its influences from venerable sci-fi sources including Blade Runner and Terminator along with modern works such as The Matrix and Inception.
Players fill the boots of Miles Kilo, an agent from the Eurocorp Syndicate. Miles is described as "an enforcer, a Terminator-style hardcase with a special, military grade version of the Dart 6 chip implanted in his head".
The preview says Syndicate will be quite a challenging experience, mostly due to the resilient enemies and their smart AI.
An ability called 'Dart Vision' serves as the game's Max Payne-esque time manipulation mechanic and can be upgraded using IPA points earned from killing enemies and using breach powers properly.
