Street Fighter IV confirmed for Android

Timed exclusive to LG handset users for three months

Street Fighter IV will soon be throwing fireballs on the screens of Android devices, Capcom has confirmed.

That's good news for all, but particularly for LG handset users who will have exclusive access to the game for the first three months after its release later this year thanks to a deal struck between Capcom and LG.

SFIV's release is set to coincide with the release of LG's "soon-to-be-unveiled" HD display technology for new handsets. "As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone's benefits," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG. "The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective."

We expect the Android version of SFIV to be the same as (or at least incredibly similar to) the version iPhone users have been playing (in HD too on iPhone 4) since early 2010 - which looks and plays surprisingly well considering the lack of physical buttons.

I mistakenly bought SF IV for the iPhone during a €0.79 sale. I played it a couple of times, concluded that it's rubbish, and a bit later got the 3ds version, which actually was a fine and proper version of SF IV. SF IV for Android should probably only be released for the Xperia Play, which has the required buttons. A touch-based version is hardly worth even €0.79...

Awesome, downloaded sf ex2 for my xperia play the other day which works really well so it'll be nice to have an even better sf (hopefully, they'll make it compatible for the plays buttons), shame about the wait though.

I'll buy this for my Play the day it's released. I want a properly optimised version though.

This game is awesome on the iPhone, I barely bother booting up the "real" SFIV on my 360 because of it. Hopefully Android owners will be getting the recent Volt version released on the iPhone which includes online multiplayer as well as local Bluetooth multiplayer.
