EA's cheeky Battlefield 3 tag line is set to appear in a stunning all-gameplay TV ad, proudly proclaiming that DICE's game goes "Above and Beyond the Call."

EA and Activision have of course been at each other's throats for some time, not least since legal disputes erupted over the Battlefield publisher signing a publishing deal with former Infinity Ward bosses Jason West and Vincent Zampella.
EA Labels president Frank Gibeau told CVG last month that its FPS series will give Call of Duty the first real competition it's had "in a long time".
"This Christmas we're definitely going to take market share in the FPS category from those guys," he said at Gamescom. "Customers like competition, they like these kind of heavyweight fights so we're going for it."
Battlefield 3 is out on October 28 in Europe, while Modern Warfare 3 lands on November 8. Last week EA announced timed exclusive Battlefield 3 DLC for PS3.

Well done EA, it takes a lot of skill to make something so tasty leave a bad taste in your mouth but somehow you're managing it.
Six months ago I'd have given my right arm for this game but gradually I'm being convinced to pirate it to wipe the stupid look of EA's face. Shut up and let the game do the talking you stupid armani wearing c***s.

You're considering committing a crime because you're oversensitive to EA's aggressive marketing?

Yes.

Too late.
s**t advert but I'll be buying BF3 anyway. I can make my own mind up, don't need a suit to tell me to buy or not buy something, just like picking the wrong song for an advert will not put me off either.
But hey I'm sensible, not irrational.
KK-Headcharge78 on 26 Sep '11 said:
Pathetic.

The advert strapline I mean, the game, well, we know it will be good.

Pathetic indeed!
Bet they are all scoffing thinking it's bloody amazing too!
Tsch, will be buying Halo Ani anyway! lol

Yes, I'm sure you pirating the game will wipe the stupid look off EA's face. That is, if they can be bothered to look up from counting all the money they make from us paying customers.
Just relax, its marketing.

I don't get the pointless hate, you guys listen to what CVG says too much, one tag line above and beyond the call and for some reason that has to do with Call of Duty? Incredible, all I saw was a video with impressively slick visuals and an annoying soundtrack that sound like some lad cooked this up at home. The video wasn't going to sway hardcore players on either side, it's for the casuals who want to get into FPS and believe you me, if they see this video it will definitely turn heads and get more than a few stares, that soundtrack might work for some but to me it's a bit me. Where's the hard rock guitar riffs along with thumping basslines...and explosions.

Wow two people now, seriously, obviously I know that, obviously I'm not being serious and grinding my teeth crying over a tagline. it's a post on the internet, It's not supposed to be serious otherwise I'd be saying it to my friends not to people I don't know on a forum. It's an exaggeration of facts until they become absurd. That's what most of the internet is. Damn I bet you correct peoples grammar as well. (Hint there are three mistakes).

I can see the three mistakes: Your posts.

Hey! That's not my back! Nor does that feel like a biscuit...

Calm down people, it's just marketing!
C'mon, they have been at each other for months over the CoD/BF clash, who is really surprised that it continues into the inevitably heavy marketing push? Activision will probably give it some 'The only Battlefield that matters' or 'REAL Battlefield action... has an inflated RRP!'.
Well, maybe not the one. Anyway, stop being so serious all yous.
Drusus on 26 Sep '11 said:
Really? Weird, that's how my Uncle Ron taught me to do it. You absolutely sure? Also is this how you play twister...

No, it wasn't obvious at all. That's why I asked the question, to which you replied yes. Don't be surprised when people take you for your word.
It's customary, when not being serious, to include some form of smiley to indicate so.
How on earth could we possibly know whether you're saying it to your friends or not?
No, most of the internet is porn.
Requesting clarity on someone's declared intent to commit a crime is not at all ike correcting someone's grammar.
Sounds to me like an attempt at backpeddling after realising the foolishness of your comment.

I'm getting a bit fed up of this immature bashing on both fronts. Ea and Activision are just as bad as each other. Just release the game and shut up, and let the gamers decide what they prefer ffs. I played a bit of Battlefield 3 Single Player Campaign last Friday at Eurogamer and although I did really enjoy it, apart from the incredible graphics the game was just like Cod in every way. I will enjoy them both for what they are - fun military games.

I'm much too preoccupied weighing the pros and cons of buying the Xbox 360 version vs. buying the PC version to be particularly bothered by these marketing antics. From the in-game video clip I've seen the Xbox 360 version looks nice - the PC version will look better with the proper hardware I'm sure. But! No trade-in value with the PC version whereas I have that option with the console version. I care not for the MP as it is the SP I'm buying the game for. It comes down to the controls. Hmm...Instead of talking big how about presenting the public with demos on the PC and console platforms?

How about this? Their both generic as hell army shooting games, their both going to be linear / Involve near enough the same guns / Have near enough the same bland storyline and ALSO sell alot of money because people who buy these games are absolute IDIOTS.
Look forward to a real game, with alot of hours and dedication put into it, like Skyrim, which deserves to sell ALOT more copies than both BF3 and CODMW3 y'know, cause it isn't just copy and paste bullcrap with a 3hour long storyline.
Oh and GMC is a potato farmer.
End rant.

It does! I was very impressed with the Xbox 360 gameplay video. So much so, that I'm seriously tempted to spring for that version.

I think its funny as f**k...the battlefield series have always been better than the quake ooops i mean call of duty games.Call of duty is an arcade run and gun with pretence elements of strategic shooting.Battlefield 3 is for the more mature amongst us who wil work in teams and together to acheive the win...Call of duty is good at what it does but i think its just about had its day now.

ladycroft142 on 27 Sep '11 said:
They don't need to resort to petty tag lines as the game itself more than proves that it's capable of stealing CoDs crown still anything that annoys Activision is alright in my book.
sonic_uk on 27 Sep '11 said:
Man you're pathetic, although I don't think talking about your own sexual fantasies is going to help your sad case.
smeg666 on 28 Sep '11 said:
and exactly how am i deluded? no where did i say modern warfare or call of duty were crap games.its true what i said.cod and modern warfare are more geared towards the run and gunners and the battlefield series have and always will be leaning more towards tactics and more strategic game play.i like the activision games but i prefer the bf series and yes i still think that activisions brand have run its course...sorry if i had a different oppinion to yours oh god of all that is gaming...
