EA and BioWare have confirmed the opening of BioWare Ireland - the first BioWare base outside of the US.
The facility is tasked with providing global customer support for the mammoth game that will be Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The base will take on a massive 400 people - 200 more than previously touted - which Dr. Ray Muzyka, EA senior vice president of the BioWare Label, says will help it 'set a new standard' in customer support as it prepares to launch this year's big MMO.
"MMO launches are complex, and we are determined to set a new standard for a high quality, stable, smooth launch for our fans," said Muzyka. "Our new BioWare facility and team in Galway is critical to ensuring we deliver on that goal. We've got a solid base of people here already in Galway."
BioWare expects SWTOR to be "the biggest online launch in history", and the studio is currently polishing game systems and tutorials, while focusing on making sure the underlying tech is stable enough to ensure a smooth launch.
And that launch, it confirmed last week, is just around the corner; December 20 in US, and December 22 in EU.
